Problem with my mixer, need help!

Post by Feonix » Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:38 pm

Hey guys,
Decided it's time to get some CDJs to play around on, so I bought a pair of Pioneer CDJ200s and a Stanton M.212 mixer yesterday.
When I got round to setting it up I'd made sure I'd got the cables right, each deck going into the line inputs on the mixer, had the phono/line switch set to line, volume controls all at halfway, but when I pressed play (on either CDJ) no sound was being made.. LIke it wasn't even showing up on the level indicators.. I thought it was a problem with the audio cables or maybe the CDJs themselves, but I ran them straight through to a moniter and it was right..
I don't get what's goin on and could proper use some advice.
Cheers in advance.

what happens when you hook the CDJ directly into a speaker or headphone? using like an rca to 1/4" or 1/8" balanced?

When it's straight to speakers or headphones it's fine, I think they're 1/8'' RCA cables, using a converter to a 3.5mm jack if it's going straight to the speakers. It just seems to be whenever it's hooked up to the mixer nothing happens. :/

if your mixer turns on and everything, and isn't transferring a signal through to the master out. then your channels might be blown, i would maybe save up for a higher quality mixer, that stanton one looks a bit plastic.

Ah gutted... :/
It's weird, it turns on and the LEDs flash for a second, as to be expected when switchin it on, but that's it for any indication of sound coming through it.
Could well be the channel inputs are fucked..
Thanks anyway mate.

connect the cdj to the line in
connect the speakers to the master out
switch to line
turn on the mixer
open the faders
turn up the eqs, the channel gain and the master gain

not trying to be funny here, but that's pretty much it. if the signal doesn't come through your mixer is probably fuqqed.

Might as well jump in with a mixer issue of my own..

Ive got the numark dm3002x, had it for years now and its always served me well, but recently whenever i push the upfaders to the top i get a crackling sound. Any suggestions on what would work to fix this? Compressed air, or do i just need to get a new mixer?

try running something else like an ipod through your mixer to make sure the problem lies with it and not somthing else....
