The kids who like Skrillex and Datsik are the kids who go to shows in neon tank tops with lighty glow sticks and take all kinds of drugs to get amped up for the music just because it's the new trend. The music has no longevity. It's just something, new, wild, and different, so the hipster fucks like yourself, wan't to follow it and be edgy and cool by saying they like "dubstep." The true heads go to the venue, dark, huge sound system, eyes down, or skanking the fuck out, feeling the vibes. It's not about some fucking musical fashion statement. Meditate on Bass Weight.

PS. Once again, I hate you and hope you die.
It appears that I have offended a hipster. Also, I never once said I liked skrillex or datsik, you're just assuming. I do enjoy some of skrillex's songs, but datsik... no...

on another note, I've never been to a rave, never care to go.. not my thing at all. I just like to write/produce music I enjoy. Thanks for trying, maybe next time you'll be successful.

I don't think anyone can deny the influence and effects Skrillex is having on the rise of dubstep in America and even around the world now. Even though Cinema is cheesy and upbeat it's actually a pretty fun track to sing along and party to! That combined with all his success and accomplishments this year-- I think he definitely earned that spot ;-)
pulling one from the dsf brostep arguments archive, can you deny the influence of hitler on the jewish community? he was huge. everyone talked abt him at every meeting of nations man! are you gonna put him in your list of the top 15 government officials?

You just literally compared Skrillex to Hitler! That gave me a good laugh. He doesn't deserve the hate he gets. I like the unique chipmunk dubstep he makes with the bass growls and cute melodies. A lot of people do! 8)

I normally try to stay out of dubstep/brostep arguments, and I respect Skrillex for his innovative ability, even if I can't stand his music, but this comment, aimed at Badman - Kryptic Minds just cut too deep.
Chase, I'm not going to lie, but that isn't really considered "dubstep"

I could hardly call this song
"is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in south London, England. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals".[1]"

the definition of "Dubstep"

Dubstep is known for is bassdrop, there is hardly any sort of any bass drop in this song along with the majority of any of the expectations from above.

if you honestly didn't understand what i wrote, then maybe should go back to english grade 5? you all take it so seriously.. it's music, music will always evolve in every genre. you're all so worried about appearing cool for listening to music that isn't well known, and here dubstep is starting to get more and more known.. which is obviously the reason you're getting mad. i haven't heard one valid excuse as to why everyone hates skrillex and other 'brostep' producers. you can't say skrillex is shit, sure you can dislike his music, but you can't say that you hate him because he's shit. because we both know that his production skills are out of this world. he came in, changed the game, all hipsters got mad because they can't listen to something that's going mainstream. skrillex is nominated for 5 grammys.. is burial? ask yourself that.
yeah im really not sure where you're inferring this from. pretty sure i didn't get mad or slate skrillex once in that essay of a post i made.

P.S. how are people that listen to mala/burial hipsters? you do realise it's really not very cool at all. virtually nobody i know even knows who kryptic minds are, i really dont think that DSF is full of hipsters.

P.P.S. that quote above makes me wanna cry

To be fair, the whole "meditate on bassweight" stuff is about the gayest kind of hipster nonsense I've ever heard.

you answered your own question. it's about what's the most appealing to the mainstream audience. most of the nominees and winners are pop music in their own categories (not pop as in genre, but as for "popular music"). that doesn't mean that everything nominated for a grammy is shit, but it definately doesn't mean that it's great quality either. awards like these are for people, who don't have the time or the ambition to get deeper into music and therefore always stay on the surface of things, which is fine when it works for them. but it's a fact that there are loads of producers and artists out there, who have a higher quality level than most of these pop artists, but still don't get recognised, because their music is too challenging to sell it to billions, who are satisfied with what the mainstream media channels serve them.
as for skrillex, i can't say i'm an expert in music theory or production or that i analyzed all of his tunes, but from what i heard, i can't recognize the genius and impeccable skills a lot of people claim. it just sounds flat and plastic to me, with no soul or swagga.
Fucking poetic, spot on, and couldn't have been stated better.

n'awww, i love you too man :w: :U: :w: :U:

just i think youre perhaps going about introducing peple to your taste in music slightly wrong. I've often found that instead of throwing a hate filled rant at someone who likes something you don't like, the best course of action is to instead suggest to them tunes you think they may like- for example here you could have said...

Whilst I respect your top 15 I'm afraid i wouldn't include any of them in my top 15 of the year- what a funny world we live in!

heres my top 15, check some of them out see if you like :corndance:

then if they reply that what you like is shit, you can go on a hate filled rant but its unlikely- people responded to with courtesy will often continue with courtesy.

No brostep song should ever be track of the year, it should be one of the tracks are in these mixes. Listen to these mixes by the Muslamic Rayguns if you believe dubstep needs to go back to the deep and dark influences it came from. Download them, share them, like them

You're not a hipster if you don't like a certain sort of music. Believe it or not mate, some people genuinely don't like it. They aren't pretending.

Grammy nomination as indicator of quality? LOL.

Everyone that's slating this guy's list. It's his opinion man. He's not forcing you to listen to them. If you disagree with him, make your own list. Rather than sit there slagging tracks another guy likes, let people know about songs you do like, maybe they'll pick up on them.
