I don't think anyone can deny the influence and effects Skrillex is having on the rise of dubstep in America and even around the world now. Even though Cinema is cheesy and upbeat it's actually a pretty fun track to sing along and party to! That combined with all his success and accomplishments this year-- I think he definitely earned that spot

if you honestly didn't understand what i wrote, then maybe should go back to english grade 5? you all take it so seriously.. it's music, music will always evolve in every genre. you're all so worried about appearing cool for listening to music that isn't well known, and here dubstep is starting to get more and more known.. which is obviously the reason you're getting mad. i haven't heard one valid excuse as to why everyone hates skrillex and other 'brostep' producers. you can't say skrillex is shit, sure you can dislike his music, but you can't say that you hate him because he's shit. because we both know that his production skills are out of this world. he came in, changed the game, all hipsters got mad because they can't listen to something that's going mainstream. skrillex is nominated for 5 grammys.. is burial? ask yourself that.

but obviously skrillex appeals to a lot more people than burial. you can't deny skrillex's skill. nobody can.

you answered your own question. it's about what's the most appealing to the mainstream audience. most of the nominees and winners are pop music in their own categories (not pop as in genre, but as for "popular music"). that doesn't mean that everything nominated for a grammy is shit, but it definately doesn't mean that it's great quality either. awards like these are for people, who don't have the time or the ambition to get deeper into music and therefore always stay on the surface of things, which is fine when it works for them. but it's a fact that there are loads of producers and artists out there, who have a higher quality level than most of these pop artists, but still don't get recognised, because their music is too challenging to sell it to billions, who are satisfied with what the mainstream media channels serve them.
as for skrillex, i can't say i'm an expert in music theory or production or that i analyzed all of his tunes, but from what i heard, i can't recognize the genius and impeccable skills a lot of people claim. it just sounds flat and plastic to me, with no soul or swagga.

I've often found that instead of throwing a hate filled rant at someone who likes something you don't like, the best course of action is to instead suggest to them tunes you think they may like- for example here you could have said...

Whilst I respect your top 15 I'm afraid i wouldn't include any of them in my top 15 of the year- what a funny world we live in!

Everyone that's slating this guy's list. It's his opinion man. He's not forcing you to listen to them. If you disagree with him, make your own list. Rather than sit there slagging tracks another guy likes, let people know about songs you do like, maybe they'll pick up on them.
