i'm pretty sure they used to produce all on their own (and that Steve Aoki still might), but they might be on a Dr Dre/Timbaland tip and just be more of an "executive producer" of the production team now

Diplo most certainly does produce. Major Lazer is a collab between him and Switch and I have of couple of really good remixes by him. Aoki, I have no idea.
Statement of Intent VIP / Sahaquiel v4 single out now on UK Trends.

that's pretty cool, I guess, Not all that into Diplo's beats, but I LOVE Wiley and think his rapping complements his own productions really well.

They are pretty established in pop/mainstream circles these days, and usually outside of EDM, a producer doesn't actually make music, rather he tells musicians and engineers what to do and guides the project.

They might very well still make tunes, but just throwing that out there as people coming from mostly electronic music still assume producer = make music which isn't always the case when you see a "producer" credit.

Diplo is Major Lazer (or one half or something) right? Therefore I assume he produces.

Don't know bout Aoki, but isn't Diplo a bit of a prime example of a sell out?

Like really, I'm under the impression that everything he does is for $$$.

Diplo produces some top tunes though, his recent hip hop/rap ones are impressive:

^^ Massive tune, fuck lil wayne but that beat is sick. Instantly searched it after Rustie's Boiler Room
