I use a A&H Xone:42 and it is a pretty damn awesome mixer. Amazing sound quality and the filters are top-notch. Faders are smooth as butter, knobs have perfect resistance, and it's really pretty simple to use.

plus 1 for Rane... my ttm-56 is going on ten years old. It's built like a tank and is still smooth as butter. it went flying out the back of my truck onto the highway at 60 miles an hour to no detriment.(it was in the road case).

i find pioneer mixers to be highly overrated. the djm-800 feels like a toy...i honestly think the djm-500 is more solidly built.

I've got a Nuo 2.0 - Love it! You can drive it to +10 before distortion and even then the distortion sounds warm and crunchy.

I would personally try and get hold of an A+H xone 32 - pretty cheap nowdays. Mine has lasted for 5+ years and is completely faultless and is a joy to use.

the nobs are insanely big, but i find them perfect. the eqs have a very wide range to the larger nobs allow for more precise eqing.

the only weird thing with ecler is the level indicators go red VERY quickly, but don't distort till they're very high. it took me a while to be comfortable letting the levels be red (2 bars of red is my sweet spot)

Nah I've got an Ecler I love them big knobs, I was talking about the xones having track gains on the back of the mixer not the top.

yeah but only some that's really weird imho. also some of the older xones have weird linefaders (huge thingys).
I think if you're mixing fast you don't really need two mid freq eq's if that makes any sense ? probably more useful for house / techno djs that do long blends

and yeah I agree with the red lights, slightly annoying but the sound stays crystal clear

Any reason why people don't get on with them?

About 6 months ago I sold a TTM57 to get a DJM800 and I couldn't be happier. It's not quite as good for scratching, but for me the colour pots with the filters are invaluable for mixing and I feel like I can blend tracks much better with the Pioneer, the layout is just perfect for me.

OK, the Rane felt a little more solid and had a slightly better build quality, but to be honest, I can't see how you can say the DJM800 is a toy...I dread to think what your opinion is on Behringer mixers

In my personal opinion, it's CDJs that feel like a toy. Mixing with them rather than turntables completely destroys the whole experience for me! (Personal opinion, please don't burn me alive!)

i use the ecler nuo 2.0 since a few weeks and i have to say it's an incredible mixer, especially for this price range.
had a vestax pmc 05 before which i used for almost 9 years mostly for scratching. r.i.p.

A lot of people hate on Pioneer cos of the sound quality.
Compared to an A&H or Rane, there is no competition.
Personally my main gripe with Pioneer is the majorly cheap/plastic feeling faders and knobs. And the fact you can't scratch properly on them. And the cheap ass sounding multi FX. Also I can only find two phono inputs on some of them. And there's always gaffa tape on the master fader to stop idiots playing with the master volume. Never seen any gaffa tape on a A&H so they're clearly better in my eyes.

Fair enough, I have only just got a decent set of monitors so maybe that's why I didn't notice a difference in sound quality when I switched...
One of the main reasons I switched though was for 4 channels, but really do miss the Rane for scratching
However, I would suffer without those colour pots!

i find im completely used to it now, just like turning any of the other knobs

There's a few times I've turned the gain up a bit too far though, might start practising using them a bit more

I hate the eq and the monitor on the pioneers, the denon I have at home is much clearer and the eq's are more precise. Really don't get why pioneer is the standard for clubs...
