More often than i'd like :corncry:

Just save up the best bits and use them in current or future projects

first few months i def. felt that way. Now being over a year of serious production i have no problem craping an entire song that im just not feeling. Ill save presets i like and use the bits that are good but if i just am not feeling a tune i scrap it and start again. Soon with enough practice it doesnt take very long to get another tune raging.

There's a tune I wrote a few weeks back. I think I got too attached to all the pieces of my track. Put so much time into them I didn't want to delete any. But at the end of the day you're trying to make good music, not win spirit award for trying the hardest.

Cut EVERYTHING you don't like. When in doubt, cut it. That doesn't have to mean completely, sometimes you just gotta trim the fat and single out the best parts of a pattern. Do some drastic remodulating to the parts that need it, don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Unless it sounds perfect to you, it's not good enough.

I delete everything that doesn't make me dance or cry the next time I open the file.
