Re: EYEZ V.I.P Out Now
Fair enough, I bought two in case one of the websites didn't pull through or something, ended up with both of them. Now trying to trade but I'm not trying to take the piss and ask for Alicia or something loldroogie wrote:Nothing,my beef is with people who bought a second copy to use as leverage to get other records. If you really want two and feel you will need the second for your collection fair enough.rorz9992 wrote:What's wrong with trading records exactly?droogie wrote:I bought two copies of it cause i fucking love the song and have good memories attached to it and am going to batter one copy to bits and want another one as back up when the first one dies.
If you buy two purely for trading and selling then your a clown.
But to buy a second one for the sole purpose of getting rid of it doesn't seem right to me.

Re: EYEZ V.I.P Out Now
Quick heads-up about Triple Vision btw, I've ordered from them quite a few times and most of the time I didn't have any problems at all. Also their option to go with UPS is great.
But I have to admit that I haven't been so happy about them lately, my last 4 records that I ordered there (including 3 Swamp81 records) were damaged...
The first one, that Benga and Kutz plate on Oi!, came in a sleeve that had a massive tear in the bottom, so the record would stick out of the bottom quite a bit.
Then 2 of those 3 Swamp81 records also came with a damaged sleeve, the Electron / Underground sleeve was heavily scratched at the top and I had to rework that with a black marker so that it would be less visible. Also the inner sleeve of that Funkbias release was teared at both the bottom and the side also causing the record to stick out of it.
The third record was perfectly fine but it was still sealed so that was no surprise.
So I don't know how they store their records exactly but it can't be good.
This has only happened with my latest orders though, never had a problem with them in the beginning. Though because of this I'm a bit hesitant to order from them again tbh. I mean, a damaged generic black sleeve isn't such a big deal of course, those can easily be replaced, but the fact that I had to rework my Swamp81 artwork because it had a big white scratch on it is just unacceptable imo.

So is this what you'd call a dubplate?

a dubplate is what king tubby eats his dinner off.

Re: EYEZ V.I.P Out Now
A dubplate is a record that's exclusive to one or a few DJs. It's usually an acetate plate (although I'm not sure if that's the strict definition) which will wear down after a while, but is believed to have superior sound quality.-TraX- wrote:So is this what you'd call a dubplate?

This is a full release of what was previously a dubplate.

Re: EYEZ V.I.P Out Now
originally the term was used in jamaican soundsystem culture. a dubplate was a acetate plate with a tune cut onto it, before the regular pressing. the sounds often "tested" the record in the dance before they decided to press it onto vinyl. later name callings of the producers or sounds appeared in the tunes and lead to that what's nowadays called a dublate in the reggae scene (a special tune voiced for a soundsystem or selector, no matter which format).
today most people just mean a tune, that's unreleased and exclusive to some people.
so to answer your question: depends on your point of view.

Re: EYEZ V.I.P Out Now
Looks like I am going to have two copies of this now.
I originally ordered off of Catapult, but of course the order was not fulfilled because they left the pre order option on. I received the email from them explaining the situation. I figured the order was cancelled so I ordered a copy ASAP when they were back in stock at Chemical.
Just checked my email today and my original order from Catapult was processed and charged.
I may be up for a trade, anyone interested? I really have no use for 2 copies. I won't be ridiculous either and ask for stuff like Alicia or old DMZ plates.

Right right, didn't studio engineers used to use them to test tracks? Thanks

For anyone who is unable to get a copy of this, I'll be willing to trade my one copy (played one time, and then kept in the sleeve) for Kromestar - Jasmine / Trust as well.
