No experience with the k702's but if they are more expensive I'm guessing they will be somewhat better than the k240s??? hard to say without having a listen, if you have the coin I say go for it because a good pair of headphones will last you years.

Just do as much research as you can on different audio forums.

I haven't listened to the mkIIs but the k240s I have (gold) are nice and uncoloured with extended highs and un-hyped bass so your mixes will translate decently on others systems.

The more I use my akgs, the more i enjoy them.
Thanks mate! How long have you been using the gold k240s?

sup guys, i'm looking to get some headphones for producing, i have up to 100£ for a budget, and i'm looking to get some AKGs, however, i've found that the majority of AKGs are actually roughly the same price (see links below)
http://www.dv247.com/headphones/akg-k-2 ... nes--51666
http://www.dv247.com/headphones/akg-k-1 ... nes--51665
http://www.dv247.com/headphones/akg-k-1 ... nes--51667
http://www.dv247.com/headphones/akg-k-2 ... nes--51664

Now what the specific differences between them, because all i've seemed to work out is that there are slight differences in the frequency response and sensitivity etc.
am i better of choosing one the 80-90£ headphones or just get the £100 set?

cheers for any help

For producing you'll probably want the semi-open headphones as they are often less coloured, in terms of freq response don't worry too much as most cans will cover the full 20hz-20khz.

Tbh I don't think you will go wrong with the K240 MkIIs, they will serve you well and your mixdowns will only get better the more you get used to their sound.

Sick to see some of you rocking the AKG K240's! I got mine a couple weeks ago and been noticing a huge difference in my mixes! Can't go wrong with em:)

Got my HD-25's other day, for DJ use mainly, but will be used for production occasionally.

Great sound, really clear, might be a little bottom heavy, but not overpowering to the point of effecting mixdowns. Such a nice fit on the head. Really comfy. Sit on the head with one ear exposed ala DEEJAY style and feel solid. Really stoked on them actually. RECOMMENDDDDD (as if you needed me to say that anyway.)

EDIT: forgot to say I got mine with the coiled cable which is copper iirc, defo worth it.

Yes been thinking of getting some of these, trying to spin records using my K240s with my monitors so close to the turntables can be hard :corntard:

Hey Guys.

I am looking into buying a pair of headphones for production.

I read nearly every post in this thread and so far i think the AKG K-240 has been mentioned a hundred times at least.

But there are so many different headphones that i can't really decide.

First of all I would like to ask what specifications are most important and especially regarding Ohm and the sound pressure level, I mean can anyone tell me what difference those specs have effectively?

Semi-open vs Closed?

My budget is up to hmm let's say 100€ (142$)

Any Help is appreciated!
Finally a collab with Mindloader!

AKG K271 MKII Headphones
Vs
AKG K240 MKII Studio Headphones

Both around the same price...

Apart from the closed vs semi open back which doesn't bother me what would be the best for helping me with mix downs in a fairly quite room?

Should note that the k240s have barely any sub in them, so its hard to judge the bass on ears alone if you mix on them (like I do) so its a good idea to understand what they talk about in the moneyshot thread. Better to use common sense (like, the sub probably shouldn't be hitting -6db if your drums are down at -11 even thoug hthe subs doesn't sound that loud) than to have a phat bass on the headphones that wreck the subwoofer on a sound system.
Burial isnt dubstep, fuck off.
