btw i meant use the ohmicide on the original through a bus because you can still effect the original signal even if you freq split but i think it only gives you the wet signal but you can adjust the amount with sends, not sure if you follow me, but whatever that parts not really important just thinking out loud.
when i freq split i use the channel eq, should i try and use the multiprocessor, or? also, did you follow me in the sense that i split my bass into low, mid, high. then i add a separate sub layer, so theres 4 layers all together. but the low band of my bass i high pass it at 80hz or so its just that 100-300 warmth ontop of the sub layer. i just wasn't sure if that was common practice, but i feel like its nice because i can leave my sub bass as a clean sine and effect just above it for a tad bit of color.
btw i just got logic a couple of weeks ago so I'm still pretty new to it. coming from reason.
I read on here sometime ago using logics eq to split was bad practice because of frequency's bleeding in to each other and possible phasing issues,if you think about it when you eq you are turning down frequencys' not completely cutting them.I think with the multipressor it literally cuts the frequency dead too where you set it(i think i don't know)so it is better at actually splitting then using the eq.
Also yes splitting like you are doing i think is common practice,i most certainly do it like that.Your sub should really be hitting below 100hz anyway so colouring above that is a good idea.I have routed my sub to a mono buss before and added slight distortion then high passed the bus to 80-100 hz so it adds a little bit of colour when the sub hits.Again if you think it sounds good it more then likely does.

ok and last question regarding the multipressor method. do you put the multipressor on again after all of your fx in each band to make sure you cut out frequencies that went beyond the splits during fx? I'm assuming so.
any chance of a logic file with ur template?

um if u have aim u could just drag and drop the file and send it to me. otherwise i think ud have to upload it onto zippy share or something.
and yeah thats a big change. sounds cool
btw too bad ohmicide didn't have compression like trash. because with trash you can use the compressor and get parallel compression with the dry/wet fader.. that methods a lot easier than using busses for parallel compression in logic. seems like trash is really good for drums but ohmnicide everything else.

Ok bare with me i will have a look,i do have aim but no idea how to use it.You could pm me your email and ill send it.
There is a few things you will notice with my template,i have the mpc grooves set up in the quantize templates.I have 10 busses set up for synths and 10 for drums.I also have a audio track and midi track set up if i want to use sidechain signals and a track set up for internal recording which i use instead of bouncing. It might take you a bit to get your head round but i have no problem sharing.

kombinat is another amazing plugin

its easy to use and seriously sounds good for something that cheap, its half the price of ohmicide and it sounds impressive. ohmicide is more versatile though & the midi following feature in ohmicide sounds like a great feature (wasnt in the demo for me to test out) more plugins should have this feature.

It does have a gate, but not compressor.
Ohmicide all day my friend, But dont preset hop, load each band with the more subtle to extreme distortion types.
Saying that, camel phat/crusher has its place for specific sounds too. Namely drums in my experience

Soundcloud
This track was made using ohmicide, logics limiter and eq only, the feedback you here all throughout the track is just the midi follow controlling ohmicide.Ohmicide is used on everything in this track from the bass, the lead to a tiny bit on the beats.I hope this shows what the plug is capable of,the track itself was a lazy sunday afternoon months ago that i doubt i will go back to.I am literally posting it to show people what ohmicide is capable of, some real decent sound design stuff and is veryvery easy to use if you stick you head in the manual and learn all the functions of the plug.Apart from izotope trash in my opinion it is by far the best distortion plug on the market and well worth adding it to your collection.

Camelphat is much simpler and intuitive, with more all around capabilities (ie the filters and mod units and other effects as well), but it's distortion is really best just to beef up a sound in my experience with it. IMO it can't give the grit that ohmicide or izotope trash and give to a sound. But I use camelphat on just about every sound I make, whereas I only use ohmicide or trash on certain things.

I have both, and ohmicide uses a ton more cpu than camelphat. I usually go with camelphat since its a bit easier to use and it doesnt skyrocket my cpu. Ohmicide is very nice though, and it defintely is a bit more versatile.

I find them both pretty overrated.
I'm into Camel Crusher.

Idk why but out of those two i like ohmicide more. imo it sounds a bit better and has a lot more options to crush sound like i want to. I m surprised noone mention (or i maybe missed it) Kombinat from Audio Damage. I have the old version and although not as powerfull as ohmicide (but still pretty beastly) it sounds great and the new one is almost half the price ohmicide is.

Tried them both. I reaaalllly like ohmicide. Just alot of control that allows you to shape the transients and keeps you from having to do it later.
