This thread is awesome. Just read through taking notes - going to stick it up next to my computer screen.

Re: How low is TOO low?
I don't want to call it a rule... but this is the basic suggestion that I usually try to follow. With that said, I pumped out a song in C recently, and it definitely felt a lot lighter as far as bass. Could just be my system, though.JensMadsen wrote:30 hz is a bit too low. The best bass weight is achieved at F and the tones around it. G and E are good too.

I'm pretty sure that some Loefah tunes peak around 30.
Also, does anyone know how low the frequency response of Funktion One soundsystems goes ? Could they play infrasound at, say, 15 hertz ?

This one says 25hz but you can check the rest of the website.
Using saw-waves instead of sines won't allow you to go lower in your sub?

Resonant Bass Frequencies:
43-44Hz (Low F) - Resonant in everything from shitty stock car stereo to a system with 2 12's in
a ported box.
41Hz (Low E) - Same as F.
46Hz (Low F#) - Has pretty much the same tonality and resonance as F at 43Hz, but this is
a bit punchier and not as sluggish.
50-51Hz (Low G#) - A Better choice of sub bass for bangers if you mainly want it to hit in stock
car stereos. Any system with subs will still hit it well but will cry out for that low 43 or 35.
A Milli by Lil Wayne hits here and so does Tempered by Rustie and Joker.
59Hz (Low A#) - About as high as you want to get with sub bass imo. IMO. IMO. I'd only lay on
this note for some short passages, take Gold Dust by Flux for example.
38-39Hz (Low D#) - This is just about the same as 43hz or 41hz, except most stock car speakers
go dead after 40hz. This shit hit's hard with some subs though.
35Hz (Low C#) - Once you get this low you're mainly only looking at people with subs.
Generally, cheaper more entry level subs hit down to around 35hz comfortably and then they
start to die out. If you/the listener has some nice subs though, this will fucking KNOCK ALL
YOUR SHIT UP.
55Hz (Low A) - Pretty much the same as 51hz.
Good Scales For Bass:
F Minor = F (43Hz), G, G# (50Hz), A# (59Hz), C, C# (70/35Hz), D# (76/38Hz)

Super experimental.

I have a thread here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

Re: How low is TOO low?
yeah but he didn't make the threads at the same time as if the forum was acting up...he posted one a little while after the other for a reason I'm not sure of.Comfi wrote:This also lol. Re: How low is TOO low?
