yeah, not that boddika isnt sick, but doesn't make sense to me how he was in best producer category for dubstep awards when there are special categories to accomodate for the housey sound.

that would be my only whinge. there is some great talent on display in these results! 2011 was a great year and 2012 is shaping up to be even better

Yh Boddika is no where near dubstep lol. but he is a sick sick producer. He's is defo my favourite EDM producer of 2011 and 2012 so far.

And to the results. No one who I voted but they are killer results! Best results I've seen on the forum

Liking seeing Deep Medi take home best label. And yes to Boiler Rooms for getting 2nd behind the mighty machine that is GetDarker (bigups!) Would have liked to see Zomby taking a top award for either album or 120-140 though. This year has seen some phenomenal work coming out of him. And everyone involved in the game actually. Big up all yourselves!

Kahn deserves the top spot for new producer. I dunno about the top producers not to discredit any of the winners but everyone has been bringing it recently.

Some great results and I can live with almost all categories.
One exception: Best 120-140 producer > Addison groove? that was a bit of a surprise for me to be honest. He's made a couple (2?) of good tunes in 2011, but the competition in that category....certainly there were more viable producers in there.
And personally, I would put him in the dubstep category...seeing most of his tunes are at dubstep tempo. But I can understand the 120-140 nomination though, what with all the outside influences.

I don't really know why some of you are confused about Mala's award.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm confused because, off the top of my head, I can't really think of many tunes that he released this year. Education and eyez vip? While both good tunes, hardly deserving winning best producer when people like goth trad, phaeleh, Kryptic minds et al have released stunning eps/lps and a few good singles.

Seems to me people just saw his name and went weak at the knees and didn't consider it properly. Good results generally though.

Mala didn't release that much and other than Eyez VIP (which is only a VIP still) they weren't really total bangers:

I think that's about all he's done in 2011. But let's not forget two or three new dubplates in circulation by him, his strong connection with both DMZ and Deep Medi and a stellar live performance will have helped sway votes for him.
Besides, there is something to be said for all the other top-runners as well:

Kryptic Minds, sure Badman VIP is a great tune, but it is only a VIP (same as Eyez). The album "Can't Sleep" won best album, but I don't really understand why. It's good stuff, but so boring compared to "One of Us", which was miles better. All the experimentation has been stopped and I feel an EP worth of "Can't Sleep" material would have been more than enough. "Arcane" and "Time Flies" are both singles from the album.

Phaeleh : Good EP, but frankly nothing new or unexpected from him: same style as his album and the previous EP. Good stuff but again not very much has changed. And "Falling" was massively trumped by the "Kulture" remix. And the dungeon stuff he did was released in 2010, not 2011.

Goth-Trad: frankly, I thought the "Babylon Fall" EP was one of the biggest overrated records of 2011. I can't find a single tune that's too special, good sure, but not special or done before. Same for the new album: nothing a 3 or 4 track EP couldn't have done better to be honest ("Mirage" is the only track I'm crazy about).

Boddika shouldn't even be in the category, but I understand why people would vote for him.

Conclusion:
VIVEK should have won jokes.

I think its a good result, because as I said, there is something to be said about every one of the 5 frontrunners.

Great awards this year. Like everyone I am sure that no one voted for those exact results but good to see basically all quality on the list.

Quite surprised to see youngsta and all the dungeon people do so well because I had got the impression people were getting a bit bored by the sound but obviously not
