Really cool sound. Thanks for this.

Skrillex - True Gangstas has a similar sound.

the sound is pretty much a pitch envelope, just use cool waveforms for cool sounds. You can also try putting the sound through the scream filter (not too much resonance and scream just a little under half) or modulating the pitch oscillator with a 1/64 lfo for extra coolness and then bam look at that u are alvin risk only missing the circle glasses

Am I being blonde, or did the screenshot of the YouTube video used to show TOXIC BIOHAZARD as the synth being used?

Blonde? Iunno, define 'used to'.

I refreshed, and it is unmistakably massive. Or... am I being blonde?

Super experimental.

I have a thread here discussing the track, and offering you the chance to remix it, more details in thread! See what you can come up with!

A hoover is a supersaw... with an envolope on the pitch. But good looks on poopoo-ing somebody's effort to help others out.

Hoovers are saws which oscilate through various pulse width modulations over time, the supersaw is a waveform that was included on the waveform potentiometer of a JP-8000, and the Hoover sound was the 'WhatThe?' preset on a Juno... Though similar in auditory texture, the processes behind them are very different.

And no, theres no legato on a hoover, the slight pitch effect is a result of the detuning combined with the slow rate of vco the Juno used to control is pulse width.., much the way a reese will slowly increase in harmonic frequency as the waveforms phase against each other... but with added effect of the pwm amount changing as well. the hoover was originally made using a 4 band split with differnet modulations upon each band as well, further upping its 'morphing' characteristics.

I wasnt shitting on anyones attempt to help. Someone said 'you mean a hoover' and I said, 'no, its a supersaw'

if youd like to hear an audio example of each, check out the wiki pages on 'Hoover Sound' and 'JP-8000', they're both very iconic, Im sure there are audio clips.

I understand they're fundamentally different, but if I'm not mistaken the supersaw is the basic patch from where you begin to create a hoover. That being said, I wasn't referring to the change in the sound due to the phasing from the pw modulation, I was referring to the beginning of the note. If you look up any sample of a hoover, there's an envelope slapped on the pitch with a fast attack and longer decay; that does not come from the detuning or the pwm.

Thanks for the tutorial, it was very helpful. I was wondering if you had an email address that i could send you some ableton specific questions to? I need some tips on ordering my effects in ableton in order to get the best sound, and tips on settings for my kick/sub sidechain and snare/midbass sidechain.. thanks :4:
