I reckon this sound is made in albino ^ haven't had a go at it myself but it sounds like it and rusko is a fiend for using it!

Trying to figure out how Joker gets his bass (and all other sounds pretty much) so tight sounding. Not sure if tight would be the right word, but his bass sound is so compressed/clear/fat. It just doesn't sound like most other dubstep bass (mid actually I guess) sounds. Is he just using filters/eq to section off specific frequencies for his bass to sit in? Not talking about the sub bass, but the mid that he has attached to it. Thanks, I'm eager to find out how it is made!

@axolotl-dubstep: Have you tried using a high-shelf filter with a moderate resonancy? And use two notes an octave apart. A tube emulator type vst/effect could hep with the warmth, or you could just boost your mids and lower your treble with an EQ.

Joker bass's always sound like they are pushing the limits of being detuned.. that one just sounds like a few square waves and some distortion/eq...

I have always wondered about this plucked line?

Unfortunately I can't open your file because I use Fl Studio, but here is a tune that I'm writing right now in the spirit of Joker. I caught on to the detune that he used and incorporated it in my bass, but I would love any feedback as to how I can get the bass more compressed sounding (still not sure how to describe it).

Easy all, I'm not sure if this has been asked already, I tried searching the forums for it, but it didn't help.
I'm trying to make an Icicle/Shogun kinda stab. You can hear it in a lot of his productions, but another good and recent example is J:Kenzo - Therapy.
<iframe src="/forum/video.php?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hEcE7Bcg7Q" frameborder="0" style="overflow:hidden; height:auto; max-width:540px"></iframe>
The sound I'm after is at 0:27 +-.
Hope anyone can help me, I'm in reason, but any explanation in any DAW will work.
Thanks!

How to make a Euphoric house / saw piano sounding chord?

Post by BrokenBeats94 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 5:15 pm

This synth is used in a lot of euphoric house songs as well as now dubstep and also drum and bass and is the ideal sound for touching up on a drum and bass track i'm using. I'm planning to use it also on dubstep tracks and have had quite a few attempts at getting the sound spot on but haven't had many decent results. I know you use saw waves, knock up the unison and the spread and then high on the attack and short on the decay?

I'm not too sure and I am using NI Massive. Here are various samples of the sound I want :) Anyone got a decent tutorial or specific details of how to make it

Deadmau5 & Kaskade - I remember (this is exactly what I want without go as far as sampling it)

Get a saw, filter it, set an enveloped with 0 attack and no decay at all to open the cutoff. Assign cutoff to a macro and play around, the rest is fxing.

Edit: The piano is just a piano with a heavy beat delay and a reverb. More about EQing it than FXing it I guess.

:| Don't want to sound like a dick, but surely you can decide?

He's given you pretty much the technique, use your ears and decide according to the track for everything else.

If I was trying to create that sound I'd start by looking for, or recording, a circular saw cutting through a piece of metal tubing. That's what it sounds like. Cut off any low end. Use a little pitch automation. There's some sound layered on top of it, and some other effects added, but you just play about with whatever effects you have to achieve something nice.
