In the way that it's another great oppurtunity for Dubstep to heard in corners that it wasn't before and people think of the most negative shit they can, it's not like the tune is shit. It's stuff like this that has helped Dubstep to get to the stage where it is now.Joe C wrote:in what way?Alex bk-bk wrote:all the hate here really depresses me
3 years ago he would have only dreamed of being asked to do a remix on this scale, no one wasn't intrested, now it happens and people go on like it's the end, that doesn't make sense.
There isn't a single person on this forum who if they had the skills would of turned down the oppurtunity to do an official remix of the same profile.

It's been getting that way here for a while..skream as the most prolific and high profile producer in the scene seems to be the easiest target..Alex bk-bk wrote:all the hate here really depresses me
I really don't care for Fat Freddy's Drop, but Mala turned it into something special..i've not heard this, but I think the Klaxons are ok - the 'nu rave' appeared to be a bit of a j/k the press ran with and it stuck as they like to label music and sub-categorise etc (as happens a lot on here too)..I hope it takes off and big up to Skream for getting the opportunity, we should be excited about this even if you don't like the tune..you've got to accept it's no longer the small insular scene it was and embrace the increasing popularity..

proberbly not, altho i'd like to think that it's not just about 'accepting' high profile remixes but also doing it because u like the artist(s) and/or the original track.Chef wrote: There isn't a single person on this forum who if they had the skills would of turned down the oppurtunity to do an official remix of the same profile.
it's not about the track i think ppl on here just afraid of going to DMZ and it looking like this

What I dont get is that Skream has been on dubstep from day and then you get some of these realtive newbies coming on here saying what a bad look it is.... the mans developed the dubstep sound and continues to do so and these musical tourists will come on the forum, cuss his tunes and the moves that he's making to push dubstep. Im not "fingering" anyone in particular but I see it happen in a number of threads and Im left confused.

i didnt say it did, for all i kno skream may like the track and/or the klaxons and if so, fair play to him for doing the remix. i just dont think it should be about profile.Chef wrote:rekorder wrote:proberbly not, altho i'd like to think that it's not just about 'accepting' high profile remixes but also doing it because u like the artist(s) and/or the original track.Chef wrote: There isn't a single person on this forum who if they had the skills would of turned down the oppurtunity to do an official remix of the same profile.

the fact is that when a precedent is set (in this a musical style/sound) people commonly hate on it for the want of being different and/or keeping things original and fresh, which i personally dont see anything wrong with.El Sudor wrote:What I dont get is that Skream has been on dubstep from day and then you get some of these realtive newbies coming on here saying what a bad look it is.... the mans developed the dubstep sound and continues to do so and these musical tourists will come on the forum, cuss his tunes and the moves that he's making to push dubstep.

to be fair its not a bad tune, the remix and the klaxon version, i didnt even know it was a cover... the chorus is deep though! and about skream remixing a 'nu rave' tune? come on people lets not cry about it! i think its a bit sad how everyone is whinging about one tune... theres alot more serious problems in the world. allow this underground mentality, it gets boooooring

although, I gotta say, what if someone thinks the tune is shit? I mean yeh, fuck "hiding" dubstep from the masses, and if Skream is feeling the tune, and he thinks he has done a good remix, fair play, you can't regulate music like that.
But it doesnt make it any less shit of an idea musically in the ears of personal musical opinion.
When I heard he had remixed the trendiest, most fashionable, most fake tune of this year (pretty well covered mind) I was definately apprehensive, but musically, not out of any kind of "dubstep fan warfare" and on the flip side I think it's important to make sure when someone says they dont like this tune, people dont cop out and say "MAN YOUR ONLY SAYING IT TO LOOK UNDERGROUND" or some bullshit

sheesh, why can't people state their opinions on this board without being persecuted or being called 'haters' just because they express their disaffection for something...i like dubstep, and i like skream, but i don't like this remix, does that make me a hater ? people should just let people get on with things, if what u read depresses or annoys u then just click the left arrow in the left hand side of your screen, and get on with it.

in the way that take something fun where people like to dress up and have a great time - and its probably a scene mot people dont know too much about judging by some of the comments here - and finding a way to make it sound somehow vulgar. At least theyre trying to do something positive where people dance. Is that really so different to dubstep?Joe C wrote:in what way?Alex bk-bk wrote:all the hate here really depresses me
yeah JJ is spot on, corse 'new rave' never existed, its an in-joke that got taken out of hand. But non the less there are a bunch of disperate camps of people around trying to do something fun and cool with varying amounts of success and credebility. Some of them are playing some incredible music. No need to sum it up in a tidy package just to write it off for no reason. Some people might think its a bit sad to stand around listening to samey drab wobblebass music all night long, but they dont know about the vibrance and fun of dubstep. You lot would all get up in arms about people being ignorant in that way so what makes these reactionary comments about "a bunch of nobs in colourful clothes being gay" any less insulting?
I've heard some seriuos "new rave" hate coming from the dubstep scene before and it just amazes me how people can still be so obsessed with categorising people into camps and tribes like we're all still in year 9 of secondary school or whatever
