Who enjoys their career?

Post by .onelove. » Wed Feb 01, 2012 1:58 am

Because I'm approaching graduation, with a degree in Economics, with no fucking idea what to do.

Keep getting shot down in interviews for corporate positions, with the growing realisation they aren't suited to me. Wtf does that leave?

I just want a middling wage and a job that doesn't make me completely numb and alienated dammit

i do

i was also invited to join the masters program for applied economics recently. even with a basic degree in economics i feel like you have lots of opportunities, think outside the box. you don't have to work in the business sector, sharped up your writing skills and write a piece for an economic journal and see where that goes.

Me, fucking love my job and have had at least two (maybe three) different career development paths clearly laid out for me by my managers.

The job and work are interesting, but the company is shit. I have absolutely no idea whether I have a future with the company or where they intend me to go, and they clearly have no idea either. I've been here for 7.5 years out of the company's 15 year history, so it's not even as if it was a big company I've been lost in. We change company strategy every 3 fucking months and make massive kneejerk reactions when things don't work. Most recently, as one of the most experienced people in the company, I've been told I need to apply for new positions elsewhere in the company as they're closing my division. And they've changed the positions available twice since then. And they actually have no idea what those positions actually do yet.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

I'm not bitter.

just got promoted so yeh! :)

I like what I do but I've been doing it for 2 years now, hopefully the new role will be alot more interesting, I mean it's not exactly what I grew up wanting to do but the money is good and the work is interesting.
Doesn't stop me doing what I love in my free time either, that's the main thing.

Sometimes. I like the work I do, but I don't especially like the company I work for or the overtime/on-call shit involved.

When I was my own boss I loved my job... I need to get back in this situation as soon as possible, tbh.

i enjoy my career...it's brilliant!

a lot of people however, see an 'enjoyable career' as having to do nothing.
i have to work hard for what i get, but it doesn't feel like work. thats what makes a good career.
