Dubstep touches Africa this Saturday........

Post by plastician » Mon Jun 18, 2007 9:30 pm

I am playing in Africa this Saturday night.... proper excited

Echos Sonores Festival, Carthage, Tunisia - apparently one of Tunisia's first ever electronic music festivals.

I'm playing inside the famous Cathedral De Carthage as well!

Don't know if anyone on the forum is in the country by chance this weekend?

Exciting times... I think Kode 9's touched South Africa if my memory serves me right, but this is the only other thing that sticks in the memory as far as touching the African continent is concerned!

Stay tuned for pics and a write up :)

Deep man.

I can't wait until theres a lot more electronic music coming out of Africa. African beats are like the roots of mankind.

A full report on smashing over there on your return please!

isn't there a small grime scene in Somalia? I swear I heard that a couple of years ago or something.

well not a 'scene' as such, but I think there was one dude who was selling it, and all the kids have mixtapes in their ghettoblasters etc. Something like that.

Anyway mate let us know how it goes, post pics!

Remember when i was living in south africa kwaito was big i guess thats there "grime" in a way, every country has there own thing, but it can influence a whole different style elsewhere musics good like that aint it.

Tunisia should be great, introduce a whole group of people to dubstep and grime who knows you could spawn a hybrid style with some producers and mc's there.
