Cos Borgore's just off doing his thing somewhere and Skrillex is right in the public eye fucking up the scene
In my area borgore's pretty mainstream, right up there with skrillex. The overused dubstep debate always has to do with skrillex and some other dubstep producer. IMO borgore is even farther out there, Skrillex isn't too bad compared to him. Yet Borgore is rarely ever brought up in the Bro/Dubstep arguements :?
Let me put it this way: for most of us, if we tell someone we listen to dubstep they're far more likely to say "oh you mean like Skrillex?" than "like that Borgore stuff?"

Personally i've never ran into that problem, i can guarantee though if someone listens to skrillex they are sure to have heard of borgore.

Yeah, Borgore for a while was just as popular as Skrillex is now... I'd see kids playing Borgore tunes on their phones and shit

IMO, skrillex is fucking up the scene about as much as guys like Gucci and waka flaka are fucking up the hiphop scene. There's still plenty of guys pushing that boombap style with jazzy beats and deeper lyricism. Yes there's a newer generation that thinks that gucci embodyis hiphop, but who cares. When guys like them rise to the top, it only makes the guys pushing that old school sound push even harder. There are still plenty of guys pushing that deep sound in dubstep and im sure there always will be, regardless of how much mainstream success guys like skrillex achieve. Its seems to me that skrillex is only making guys dig deeper into their "roots" to try to promote. That older dubstep sound. And you have to ask yourself, do you really want to see a bunch of stereotypical skrillex fans at the next "deep" show?

I don't really rate skrillex or any bro stuff for that matter, but the notion that "old school" is the "proper" sound is not exactly what makes a fresh and vibrant scene.

I think its like the chicken egg paradox. Did the chicken invent the egg or did the egg invent the chicken. Mankind will be hypothesizing for many generations im sure.

Nah, Korn invented Dubstep so Korn invented Skrillex.
