GetDarker Presents This Is Dubstep 2012

Post by Sonika » Wed Feb 01, 2012 6:44 pm

Anyone got this one yet? It just came out.

I'm gonna get it when I get home. The tracklist looks amazing, really looking forward to giving it a listen.

Anybody care to share their thoughts about it?

Tbh I would only buy it for Circles and a digital copy of Livin' Different.

a decent effort at selling some pseudo-mainstream crap with a bunch of decent 'underground' tracks thrown in the bunch. A better effort than Ministry of Sound that's for sure. It's got digital versions of Livin' Different (too bad it isn't the VIP, would have got it then) and Bahl Fwd and a new Cyrus tune. Will I buy it? No.

These compilations usually suck IMO, no hate for GetDarker though. its just hard to find an audience that wants bro and real stuff mixed.

I think you're right. You can't buy it separately on itunes or anywhere.

Yeah I looked at the track release and I was surprised to see how many more deeper tracks were on there, because most compilations are all brostep garbage.

Theres Distance, Icicle, Kryptic Minds, Cyrus, Biome...I'm definitely pretty excited about it

I feel like the best tracks that haven't been released until this are definitely....

Sleeper & District - Dungeon Style
Kromestar & Dark Tantrums - Circles
Cyrus - Winter Writer / Sleeper (this one is huge)
VIVEK - Danger
DJG - Here Come the Lights (don't sleep on this one, very interesting tune, great if your lookin' for something a little different)

That Lost track is pretty good too, I didn't feel like purchasing the whole compilation was worth it at all because I had all the deeper releases already, but definitely worth copping the unreleased tunes.

Yeah lots of respect for GetDarker

Also, confirmed that Knowing by Distance is in fact on there.

I hate most of the Ministry of Sound compilations, but I actually genuinely liked Ministry of Sound Presents This Is Dubstep Worldwide.
I thought they did a good job representing the entire WORLDWIDE dubstep (and brostep) scene. Sure, not all the tracks were my cup of tea, but they did make a decent compilation.
Yeah there was a Skrillex track and a Feed Me track, and then there was a Gemini track and a KOAN sound track and a Nero track and a Datsik track, but there was also:
Distance - Night Vision
Icicle - Xylophobia
Pinch - Swish
Skream - Exothermic Reaction
Benga - Smack Your Bitch Up
Andreya Triana - A Town Called Obsolete (Mala Remix)
Mount Kimbie - Maybes (James Blake Remix)

So all in all, definitely a good mix of tunes.

lol.

Selling tunes that have been given away is lame
