got this from another forum i am on. ALMOST makes up for missing them in Detroit. Almost...

Image

Rhythm and Sound is Mark Ernestus & Moritz Von Oswald.

Rhythm & Sound released a series of 10' records on Burial Mix and 12' records on Rhythm & Sound, both labels distributed by Hardwax. Von Oswald and Ernestus' Rhythm & Sound recordings are much more dub-influenced and less techno-orientated than the duo's previous, and more legendary, dub-techno recordings as Basic Channel and Von Oswald's solo work as Maurizio. Where those earlier recordings synthesized a Detroit-influenced style of minimal techno with dub-reggae bass lines, the late-'90s Rhythm & Sound productions emphasized the dub-reggae aesthetic rather than the more dancefloor-orientated techno sound of the early-'90s Basic Channel and Maurizio recordings. Thus, the Rhythm & Sound records, which often featured reggae vocalist Paul St. Hilaire, weren't quite as popular or well-known as the duo's Basic Channel recordings, which instead retained their popularity over the years, becoming quite legendary and oft-cited within the techno scene. Nonetheless, Von Oswald and Ernestus' Rhythm & Sound work prevailed into the early 2000s, being compiled on two listener-friendly CDs, Showcase (1998) and Rhythm & Sound (2001).

Aliases : Basic Channel, Cyrus, Maurizio, Phylyps, Quadrant, Radiance, Round Five, Round Four, Round One, Round Three, Round Two

Basic Channel

THIS IS BIG

Missing R&S :D
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

I have nuff tune from Love Joys and Rhythm and Sound have totally helped the youth of now key into dub. I give Jah all my praises for all the good and rightoues works goin down in the dub relm.

BIG UPPS TO ALL CREWS. Dub testament keep rollin on.

I love them

Funny to see this post. Burial Mix where the first dub records I bought in 96 after listening to a radio program where they spoke about dub and hunting all around BCN, I found What a mistery and the other Spend Some Time both sang by Tikiman, I am a big fan of then. Basic chanel, Chain reaction, burial mix, rythem and sound, Main Street all the same people, I I think they have been a big influence to European dub. i am loading a mix by me, very roots will put the link to it, there I play a couple of songs from burial mix I´m the queen sang by Jennifer Lara, which is one of my favorites. Well I hope you can listen to the mix soon and you enjoy it.
