OK... so whats going on with dubstep, and this forum?
So I cant say Ive been with dubstep from the start, but i remember loving classics like skream, coki, benga and all the others. hate skrillex, I personally think dubstep going mainstream, is a bit strange, but it deserves the glory as it has been coming for years, but the artists that are taking it there (or think there taking it there) are not the right ones i.e flux, skrillex. I recently started DJ'ing after coming out from a very 'silent' part of my life with no music, due to my dad deciding he wants to start mixing again. now im coming back in, and coming back to this... So what really is going on? Dubstep has always been my type, but its just in that phase where its splitting up and becoming sub-genres, confusing... where is dubstep heading?
Re: OK... so whats going on with dubstep, and this forum?
This question has been asked over and over, dubstep is going in various directions for better or worse.
I advise looking here if you want to discuss more.

While you're probably assuming correctly, saying influence in the scene is directly related to the number of posts you make on DSF is stupid.

Yeah we tend to talk about music here, that often means posting videos of said music.Koruption wrote:mehh, full of posting videos... it looks dead

Welcome back mate, glad you like proppa ds...do you prefer dark garage, harstep, dungeon, purple or techstep?
If you want to know what's happened since 2010, I suggest you read all the posts on here since mid 2007.
Why has your dad's decision to start mixing again ended your silence?.

Signing up here isn't a dubstep membership card. Imagine if you will that there could be hundreds of people out there that have been listening to this stuff from the early days that have never even been on here.Lectric wrote:5 posts since 2010 and youve been with it since the beginning, ye?
OP, hope you find some amazing tunes amongst the myriad of new styles branching from and within dubstep, there's been plenty released.

go down to your local shop and just listen to everything on the rack. that'll probably give you a good idea of dubstep these days

LOL just because ive made 5 posts doesnt mean i havnt been here from the start, thats the reason why i never share my thoughts to be honest, cus of the sarcastic shit that some of you post on here. wanted a general chat about music, but fuck it. thats the problem, i see bare guys post something about an artist you dont like, and you rip him apart, pretty shit that nobody can post anymore trying to get involved, but just think hes a 'newbie' lol. used to be into grime, started changing towards dubstep, but i dont like most of the minimal stuff out there,i like music like black sun empire, 16 bit, and all of dub police. moral of the story... dont judge someone by there number of posts.

I have never seen a record shop with dubstep inside, come from a litlle place in the midlands, Birmingham is the closest place where ill probably find a shop like that, but its still ages away, i buy most of my records off chemical.scattybeanhead wrote:go down to your local shop and just listen to everything on the rack. that'll probably give you a good idea of dubstep these days

There's not the biggest choice, but there's a night in Birmingham tomorrow that I'm playing at actually. Sully, Be-1ne, Me, and a couple of others, nice mix of styles, hefty system, good vibes. Keep an eye out for the flyers in HQ music in the city centre too, had a good look at them the other day and realised I'd missed some sick nights.Koruption wrote:I hope i do too, your not far from me either, your from brum? what kinda nights go on in the midlands? i was thinking about buying a few tickets to go to fabric in the next few weeks.garethom wrote:Signing up here isn't a dubstep membership card.
