X-files creepy sound

Hi, can anyone tell me how to make sound from xfiles?

the first sound in this preview is the one I want to make, but now it sounds way too resonant and really lame...

get your synthesizer of choice, make a sine wave, add some slight vibrato to it, and turn portamento on with a quick glide. Play it in +1 octave.

thank you, i tried to play around with sine, but still not close enough. maybe i will try flute sounds, along with vocals

try detuning two squares against eachother and lowpass it down to nearly a sine
then reverb it and use portamento, vibrato, and modulate the amplitude as well

sounds like a whiste to me, like you'd get in old soundfont packs.

Yes the X-Files sound is a preset called "Whissle" or similar in old Proteus rack synths.
They are actually quite useful and can be picked up cheap. I got a Proteus FX for 25 and it has that sound.

I'm sure you can find original samples or soundfonts of the units to use too.
