Nope, you're right. There's nothing, nobody that comes close. A failure on behalf of capitalism in the U.S. radio markets. We have some good college and "pirate" radio stations, but people here are generally too brainwashed to care about anything other than Top 40 FM corporate mainstream pop. My next favorite radio DJ of all-time is also from the U.K., Mary Anne Hobbs.

I don't remember Carl Cox playing any Dubstep in the early days. Hardly that much of a claim to fame if a professional DJ/producer happened to play dubstep before 2005 though, wasn't a secret society- people were trying to push the music, playing a tune or two isn't a claim compared to running a dubstep night/label or producing the stuff.

Peel was on it for the early promotion outside the usual Grimey/Garage circles though.

Peel was playing some bits in 2003. By 2004 he was putting Mala and Distance in his best of the year lists.

i think anyone thats been around PR publicity people and agencies, can see this for what it is, just like the Korn thing. Its stinking badly of a PR job. Besides, 4x4 house has very little to do with garage, and those house people that say things like "everything starts with house / disco" are the same as the people that say " everything is hip hop ". context is everything.

This is getting quite frustrating, i mean Korn was funny because they're just arrogant uneducated morons.. but Carl Cox, whether you like him or not, is a legend in the music industry. Why does everybody expect a fucking pat on the back for being involved in dubstep from the start when more times than not they weren't. Also why have they found the need to mention it NOW, in 2012.. why weren't they saying this from the start.

Totally agree with you on this, it's not like Carl Cox doesn't have enough real achievements to look back on without having to blatantly make shit up.
