Going to London in a week - Need some advice
Alright, just got a few questions:
How likely am i to show ID in the door when i am trying to get into a club? Seeing that i am only 17 years old, it's not really legal for me to get in - But that has never been a problem in Denmark because i've got contacts everywhere. I've already got tickets for this one: http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?314771 Any tricks i need to know?
I know all the record shops - But are there any other places i need to visit for bass-music purposes? I have never visited Croydon, and i've got the impression that there isn't really a lot to see there? Am i wrong in thinking that?
Also, since i like eating, any good places i need to try? Gonna be staying at a hotel close to Soho.

Some places are really strict on ID, some really arent. The one time I went to that venue I dont believe I was ID'd. Just dont go in there all drunk and loud etc, making sure you have your ticket out in advance might help. Just dont give them a reason to possibly ID you. Be polite etc.
Dont bother going to Croydon. Fuck all to see there. Not even worth walking down the market where Big Apple was as its just a boarded up shop front now.

Cant see how old you look by your avatar (I'm assuming that you) but just rock up confident say you have a ticket & you should be fine. Could maybe blag that you only have your Passport and didnt wanna bring it out for fear of loosing it. Could maybe use photo shop to edit the date & take a printed copy. Dunno how likely that is to work though.
Food wise if your in Soho there is a ridiculous amount of good places to eat. If you Caribbean food go to this place http://www.savannahjerk.com/ If you venture out to Camden. It is very touristy there but they have some ok sencond hand record shops this really good vegetarian restaurant http://www.inspiralled.net/ & this cool ice cream place http://gourmettraveller.wordpress.com/2 ... m-parlour/
Also if you like art this exhibition http://www.serpentinegallery.org/2011/0 ... _pape.html is interesting & free!

Jacks isn't normally that bad... you should probably try and play the "I'm foreign and didn't want to lose my passport on a night out... but would I have pre-ordered a ticket before I flew if I wasn't old enough?" card if you're asked.

Eating in the west end is seriously seriously hit and miss, particularly on a budget. It's mostly overpriced mediocre chain places. Leon is pretty decent and cheap if a little self-satisfied. Otherwise get out somewhere a bit more peripheral eg curry at Tayyabs in Whitechapel, Vietnamese stuff on the Kingsland Road in Shoreditch, Turkish in Dalston (or Harringay, but Dalston is more convenient for other stuff)...JensMadsen wrote:Also, since i like eating, any good places i need to try? Oo I'd forgotten about that! Need to go!defoxster wrote:Also if you like art this exhibition http://www.serpentinegallery.org/2011/0 ... _pape.html is interesting & free!
Oh and as for eating, if you like steaks then try Gaucho in Picadilly Circus. Pricey but tasty! There's also an awesome Teppanyaki restaurant nearby as well, but I can't remember the name.
Re: Going to London in a week - Need some advice
you might be ok to get into a place if you have a ticket already - much more likely to get in to a music-orientated club than a pulling-orientated club, if you get me?
croydon is not worth a visit. all the best record shops are right on your doorstep in soho

a lot of it comes down to how much of a baby-face you have as well, all very well playing the passport-in-the-hotel card, but if you look really underage they'll probably know if you're having them on. hopefully your voice has dropped?

Re: Going to London in a week - Need some advice
Best to stay away from the major clubs, they'll ask for ID even if you look 40.
I'd try not shaving for a couple of weeks before you go

Its not that bad. Stay away from West Croydon area and you're ok. It could be worse, it could be Thornton Heath aka Tarn-tahn Eath, or Mitcham.particle-jim wrote:innit, croydons a fucking shithole, had the misfortune of having to go there last nightdreamizm wrote:LOL@ people making a pilgrimage to Croydon likes its the Bronx or Brooklyn.
