After roaring all vinyl performances from some of the most skilled spinners in the game at SimplyVinyl presents: 10 Years of Dispatch recordings it’s with great anticipation that SimplyVinyl returns for its first edition of 2012 on February 10th.

Setting the standard for what’s to come in 2012, SimplyVinyl celebrates its 2nd birthday with a lineup that reflects the progression of the Drum and Bass scene over the years with original pioneer and Virus head honcho Ed Rush taking the controls. Ensuring the celebrations of two years of promoting the sound of wax ring deep into the night will be hard hitting sounds of top producer/dj duo Need For Mirrors and as if that wasn’t enough there will be first time Brighton exclusives from DBR UK and Metalheadz new kid on the block, Mikal.

Room 1:
Ed Rush [Virus Recordings]
Need For Mirrors [Zoltar / Metalheadz / Symmetry / Shogun]
Mikal [Metalheadz / SGN:LTD / Horizons]
DBR UK [Dispatch / Renegade Hardware / BLKND / Ingredients]
Dubloke b2b Stickie Davis [SimplyVinyl / Aka Roar / Below the Line]
S.T b2b Merge [SimplyVinyl / Dub Clinique]
Pier [SimplyVinyl]

Hosted by Mc Deefa

Room 2:
Alex Slime b2b Mista Shiv [SimplyVinyl / High Grade Audio]
Samphet
Caelum
+ More TBC

£6 b4 Midnight, MOTD After.

ED RUSH
Ed Rush is one of the current leaders of the new school drum and bass. One of the originators to bring back the dark sounds of drum and bass and push it to new levels, Ed Rush continues to make waves with each new release.

Born in west London, Ed Rush originally started out into Hip Hop and electro but eventually found the growing underground rave scene. Fascinated by the breaks in the hardcore sounds at the time, Ed Rush convinced his neighbor, Nico Sykes, to let him produce tracks with him.

Eventually they released "Bludclot Artattack" in 1993 - a journey into the darkcore sounds. While most releases at the time had a certain momentum and feel, the track was like no other, and marked the shift of hardcore's split into drum and bass.

NEED FOR MIRRIORS
Otherwise known as Joe Moses & Emilio Dimitri have joined forces to create music which, in their own words, draws from all of their electronic music influences and reflects them back. An intriguing idea, but one that’s fraught with potential disaster; trying to mingle a million elements into one project can often sound messy. Instead, what you get is two producers with a wealth of experience stepping up and taking control of their sound. The final reflection, a Beautiful display of effortlessly electronica.

MIKAL
Hailed ‘as one of the top ten dnb producers to watch out for in 2010′ by Knowledge magazine. Mikal has not disappointed, featured on Metalheadz Genesis Part 2 Ep, a Metalheadz album deal in the bag and a single on Shogun Audio’s SGN imprint dropping at the end of January – 2011 is going to be a busy year.

Prolific Bath based producer/DJ Mikal was born in Sweden and raised in South London and has had earlier releases on Soundtrax, his own Mikal imprint and Nu Urban Music.

He’s already gained radio support across BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Asian Network, Kiss FM and Bass Drive from the likes of Bailey, Crissy Criss, Fabio, Grooverider, Nerm, Dcode and Ray Keith.
Endorsed by the D&B elite such as the likes of Goldie, Andy C, Bukem, Friction, Doc Scott and Randall to name a few. Mikal has cemented his place as ‘new boy on the scene – definitely one to watch out for!’ (Friction)

DBR UK
Consists of 3 artists, Craig Penman, Carl Nanton and Dan Myles.

Inspired by the Hardcore/Jungle sound emerging out of London in the 90's, there love for the music can be traced back to the early days of Kool FM and even as far as the infamous tape packs such as Dreamscape, Fantazia and PURE X.

Alongside guest performances on London's Pirate and Internet radio stations including Origin FM(95.2), Life FM and the late RUUD Awakening(104.3) DBR has been holding down regular prime time shows on some of the Home Counties Pirate radio stations including Perception FM(106.9) and Luton’s Raw FM(107.9) to name a few, for a well over a decade. DBR are currently doing the 4pm - 6pm show on Rude FM every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Working closely with other local DJ's and MC's including Fokus, Phantom, Five Alive, Lydon and DJ's Barrington and Concrete of the award winning Warning (Cambridge) to maintain a healthy local Drum and Bass scene.

DBR have been DJ’ing Jungle/Drum and Bass since the mid 90's and have witnessed the scene gradually splitting over time into more sub genres. They are into the deeper direction however still keeping their versatile style by playing classic tunes for the Heads but also selecting tracks that appeal to the less educated ear. Thus enabling them to cater for all whilst still bringing a fresh interest into this diverse scene.

A recognised collective with in the Home Counties Drum and Bass scene. DBR is known for there creative mixing style and versatile selection maintaining energy in every setting as well as there own music.

Nationwide they have played up and down the country as well as in Switzerland, Belgium And Poland, they will be looking to keep up the momentum in the following months.

havent been on this thread in loooooongtiiiiime. @Solostrike & Mcguigan unlike those flakey ass dmz promoters we WILL be bringing Oneman back to Brighton, and within the next two-3 months. all confirmed, all good. In the meantime if you ain't seen the next Aka Aka Roar lineup....

Image

March 2nd... heads should make sure get the tix in EARLY AKA RIGHT NOW, tickets are £8 advance and are selling like hot cakes. I fully predict a sellout situation, no gassing / bullshit. I've only said that once before about an Aka and it was Joy Orb / James Blake.... so don't waste time.

Pretty sure all tickets for the AKA AKA ROAR night have gone now. They're recommending to get down early if you want to get in because there are very limited tickets on the door
