all music is related anyway. Put your time and energy into mixing , making or listening to some tunes you do enjoy instead of talking about music you don't like. Everyone's better off that way :W:
It`s more fun getting a rise out of Bringer

lol at this thread. like the historical equivalent of dubstep vs brostep

I quite like some trance. I've got a few global underground mix compilations, but a lot of stuff on there comes under the progressive house bracket as well i suppose. i find good trance to be pretty emotional music, i get the goosbump effect with some tunes. I mean how can you NOT get goosebumps when the chord progression in cafe del mar by energy 52 kicks in? it's a pretty vast genre i barely know anything about it but these are some of the tunes i like.

Used to love a bit of trance back in the day. In my opinion the progressive side of things was where the real quality was at...

But even the fluffy stuff had it's moments

Unfortunately Bringer isn't really bringing the best pro-Trance argument to the table with the tracks he's posted (and some may say the same about mine) The earlier stuff was far more inspired, when songs each had a lot of character, something that the stuff still being churned out these days is severely lacking in.

So i'd say trance isn't shit....but most of it is.

I like the euphoric stuff from the 90s, and stuff that sounds like it, but teisto is ez-cheeze.
He learned what an arpeggiator is and called it a day. Not to mention i do not like 130 4x4 gay shit, but that's just me.

Most of any genre is shit. If you haven't got the patience or the intelligence to seek out the cream, then that's your problem. Which is what i said on the 1st page.

Your idea of trance is at least about 10+ years old. FYI it changes every year. The tracks I posted were tracks specifically to make a point about quality, not about pandering to these particular forum denizens, ie old skool/minimal.

To refute your point about lack of quality or character for modern Trance (ill limit myself to 1):

(Allthough thats a non-point: for the most part, character is directly proportional to how far back in time it was created. When I remember listening to trance 15-20 years ago I didn't imbue it then with the character that I do now, that's' psychology, not objective musical descriptor).

I organise my Trance collection in the moods that they inspire, other genres have different moods and similar ones. We listen to music for the way it makes us feel, how is one mood or feeling better than another?

Trance: because if you're high enough, watching some dude tweak the res knob on his synthesizer for hours on end is about all you can manage. :6:

Unwashed people having tantric sex in the middle of the dancefloor... not something you need to see more than once.
