Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
Sounds like they have the same ADSR envelope as some real string instruments, but it's nothing special, just FX. First song Delay and/or arpeggio with constantly changed filter values.
Second song its just the filter values with very short reverb
Play with lowpass filters and u'll get there, make short decay zero sustain and play with the release, you should get there. I would play with 1-2 oscillators for the start, saw and square.

render. thanx alot for your help. can u listen too my tune... http://soundcloud.com/djnaya/me-you ... i just wanted you too know i already know about synthesis in that way. the question i askd was wrong.. too me it sounds obviously like just a wobble with a bit of release but its the tone of the bass im trying too achieve.. is like low passd with quite a bit of resonance but its sounds dark and shit not just watery and wobbly.
Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
oops your correct about the delay thing. my bad.
Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
Render, are you render?

Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
WHATS a filter value??? as in like lowpass bandpass or highpass or something??? i wanna get that weird as fuck sound in my lowpassd warps!!
Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
Filter cut-off frequency, and resonance.kingnaya wrote:WHATS a filter value??? as in like lowpass bandpass or highpass or something??? i wanna get that weird as fuck sound in my lowpassd warps!!
Resonance will get you weird as fuck sounds, try to find sweet spots with both parameters! Sometimes one filter is not enough, sometimes one oscillator is not enough, experiment!

Also, that soundcloud track you linked in the OP has NO BASS.
Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
I didn't have a previous account on this forum, if the post is older than my join date than I'm not that guy that he thinks I am, nor I'm taking credit for anything "THE render" did in the past/present/future.Basic A wrote:No he's asking if your THE render, like, the one who posted here, from the days of olde.render wrote:it's only my forum name, just an alias.
My artist name is not render, this is just a forum alias.

Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
Kingnaya threads are my second favorite on dsf. Always interesting questions about interesting sounds/music, followed inexplicably by animosity and jokes. Classics always.
First track's bass is very different than second track's bass. Second track's bass is less unique, imo.
First track sounds to me like two oscs into one or more fairly resonant filters. Honestly, every synth has its own sound when you really get down to the nitty gritty, so like to REALLY nail that sound... you'd probably need to use their actual synth. I know that is no help.
But, I'd just get going with a traditional bassline synth sound on a few different synths, and then just start fucking with excess resonance/odd waveforms. Maybe the resonance is keymapped, or automated, or sampled cause the resonant peak stays with the note rather than fading in and out as the various note/pitches are played.
That delay comes and goes.
There is also another bass playing along/against that bassline bass, not to be underestimated.
Post up your attempts.

Whoa...had no idea people were that into our sound design. If memory serves correctly I was using NI massive dubstep presets just tweaked subtly. I often take some fucked up horrible brostep type noises and tweak them until they are a bit restrained and it yields the perfect result

Re: WHAT SYNTHESIS IS THIS???
I was gonna say, you could do this with FM synthesis fo' shizzy, but an additive sine tone wavetable could get you there as well. It has more to do with the timbral modulation than the filtersweep. the track i listened to didnt sound like it had much if any resonance. or bass...
