If these are the real tunes, then cool, I like them.

What's with all the comparisons to an album that came out 5 years ago though? Things are different. Think how much new/old music you could've listened to or discovered and been influenced by in that time.

yeah, things are different, and that's not a bad thing imo. don't understand why people doubt this is the real release... quality tunes, all 3 of them

agree with say_wut - don't want to listen anymore to the youtube clips, want my own copy now. too bad for the hyperdub crew that this got leaked :x

Sure things change, just noting that i liked his style a little better before it changed.
Not to say i dislike this release though. Not at all.

If someone's made something previously, any new work will be compared to the previous work.

It's not the sound of the tunes. It's the feel. They don't hit me on a gut level anymore. All the Burial sounds are there but the atmosphere has gone for me.

Good on him for evolving though. You could argue that change is inevitable but he could have just tried to make 'Untrue' over and over. I still appreciate aspects of the tunes but they just don't grab me like his previous efforts.

When he did the interviews for Untrue, he was talking about how he wanted to make 'properly produced tunes' or something like that. I think that tunes like these are what he meant when he said that.

Word, this. I don't care what Burial does, for as long as it's something I like, I'm happy with it. Hell, I love all the shit he did with Four Tet, but these tunes.... they've got some awesome ideas, but they would've sounded much better if Untrue-era Burial had made songs out of them. Right now I'm hearing something I'd technically like, but it just doesn't evoke anything in me. I get that he wants to try something different or whatever, but I guess this 'different' thing he does doesn't work for me. Oh wells. Plenty of other good shit coming out these days.

Yeah, the tunes don't hit me on a gut level, either, but I really like the titular track and some parts of Ashtray Wasp.

"Loner" is SLOWLY growing on me, but I was like WUT in a bad way when I first heard that.

Does Loner have the "There is something out there" sample or is that track fake?

what I've heard from Kindred and Loner is great. Opinions can be varied I understand that. Coming from me, who thinks 'Untrue' is probably one of the best album ever, I can understand people not getting that 'evoking' feeling right now, but "Kindred" has that night vibe for me, I think it's great and has awesome tempo.

"Ashtray Wasp" sounding a bit too random for me though, three or four great tracks in there but mashed up together...

I like this a lot.
