found this on facebook.. very cool
http://www.ripple.org/ is a site that has a conventional google search field embedded into it.
the only difference is there's a banner ad located above the field. like all web banner advertising, clients pay a small fee per web impression. unlike most websites, ripple uses these funds to help third world living conditions (ie: water, food, eduction, money etc).
What does this mean? well pretty much by using http://www.ripple.org/ as your primary search engine (and being exposed to the banner ad) instead of google, you're helping save lives.
Ripple also has widgets you can embed into your website, blog, facebook, myspace etc.. I encourage yall to look into it.
Oh one more thing, if you want to try this and use AdBlock on firefox, filter adblock to allow for ripple's adds.
Best of all.. the site is well designed.. pretty clean and not far off from actually using google.
