@Gaol: This is very interesting, it has a sort of trance feel. Obviously could use a much better mix down but it's not the boring brostep. I think you could add some more melodic elements to it other than just the strings and choir in the intro. Something like a floating synth just to fill up the empty feel until that synth section comes in. It does feel a little repetitive.

@mthrfnk: I like the ambience of your track, pretty solid drop. Your wobble sounds like mud. it's really cool though. The track overall is pretty good. I would have left the wobble going for a bit longer before you cut it out. If you get this properly mixed down it's good shit.

@drake89: Honestly the intro nearly put me to sleep. This sounds like a cave level in an old gameboy game. I like the drum rift at the drop but this needs some serious mixing done. The drop at 2:50 was pretty cool. I think if you add some things to the intro to fight the monotony and give this a proper mix it would be pretty cool. But as for the mix, I don't even know where to start.

@Toolman4: I don't like the kick, ... or the snare really for that matter. They both sound flat. The drop was cool, and the bass sounds have some awesome morphing stuff going on. As with most other tracks, the mix needs some work, but so far this held my attention the longest. It's only half a track, wheres the second half??

@mistayif: This intro is fucking nice. I'm in love with it. the whoosh sound could have been louder and longer at the drop, but it's still nice. The drums are solid. The wobble in the background can come WAY up. The mix sounds awful but you said you didn't mix it down yet.

So here is my new WIP. I decided to do a little switch gambit at the halfway point. As usual I have 4 bass synths all playing slight variations of the main melody and going through some light automation. I still need to do a shit ton to the mix. I'm just lazy and HATE mixing.

Thanks!
basically sidechaining is triggered automation. making it so say, when a certain sample hits a certain db/frequency an effect or plugin will activate. KM explain it here a little: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... P2g#t=656s

BenJones - Awesome tune, really like the horns. LFO modulation sounds a bit off in parts, but thats more of a personal preference than anything IMO. Good work though man!

@BenjonesLikeWoah Nice tune And i honestly dont think the mix is bad at all :D i especially like the dramatic stabs.
@Basebass I think that track ha s sick groove and is nicely mixed, plus the vocal samples fit so nicely :P. I think you perhaps could do with a little more high end but im sure thats down to personal preference.
@Filtersnake The tune is nice:). got a nice flow and some really interesting midrange synths, one of them sounds kind of metallic and I like it a lot, also the mix is crisp and clean although maybe I would like to hear you drums a little more, or maybe the midrange a little quieter im not sure :D

Here is my recent W.I.P dudes. any ideas will be welcomed because I need to fill in the gaps if you know what i mean. Also Im going to add slightly more reverb to the main wobbler after the drop but I forgot

@benjoneslikewhoa: Sick track man, liking the variations of the wobs, sounds good man! only thing is I'd try getting that sub a bit stronger, through eqing and filtering, and the sub kinda loses its power over the course of the drop, because its going on continuously. What i suggest is a sort of light drop out, with no cymbals or sub, and a synth melody for maybe the last out of every 16 bars. just a tip :D
@sinestepper: AMAZING track!!! everything sounds so sick, and really perfect in the mix. great job on here haha, I will definitely stay tuned for more, and can't wait to hear the full! Like you said, reverb on that main wob would help a lot i think, and everything besides that is just perfect! great job man!
@mthrfunk: sick mix for just headphones man!, I think since the intro has a decent amount of sub, either the sub should drop our 8 or so bars before the drop just os it hits harder again, or put in a small bit of silence with maybe a light melody before the drop, right after the kicks. Great tune man!

heres a newer version of my wip i posted a few days ago: once again, a proper intro will be added :D
Unmixed as well :P
Thanks!!!

Would love some feedback/critiques for this one as its my first proper effort at an original song (dont be afraid to make me cry;))

its about 70 or 80 % done... mainly needs some more fillers and a bit of variation

@Djcappa, your link seems to be broken :(
@RARRR_ sick tune, the wobbles are wobbly and bordering on sloppy (which is nice) and the mix sounds good im just not to sure about the kick drum myself but that's personal preference :)

nah man i totally agree
the kick sounded ok on my speakers(which are crappy old 2.0s) but then i listened to it on my headphones and it sounded awful!

@ RARRR_ I like what you got man intro works well the dark synth and vocal all work well starts of a right darker number, I'm a bit hit and miss with the wobbly synth I feel like it should be a bit darker with a bit of reverb on it just to make it a bit more "Dungeony" (Hate using that word) I do like the arrangement though I look forward to hearing the finished product.

@Sinestepper Man I really like what you got but TAKE THAT WOBBLE OUT MAKE IT ALL SUB! with a nice lead or something it would work so well as a chilled out track I love all the atmospherics the Japanese harp the percussion as a whole just the wobble kills it for me. or just a darker sounding main wobbly synth would do. ;-)

@difference Tune in your sig kills it love the overall vibe the percussion the hats the atmosphere the sub. only thing I would like to hear is a bit more reverb in just to give it some space. (Although I think I could save the planet with enough reverb and a box full of congas)

Just a little something I been working on for a few hours I always try to go the dark route but end up Jazzing and chilling it out

Sup y'all, working on some shitty speakers at work so can't give any feedback as far as mixdown goes so ill try and give the best feedback i can.

@IntheCrowd-digging the vibes, your drums are good. the jazzy part with the sax is nice too, i can't tell if there is sub under that with these speakers i'm on, but i'm assuming there is. if there isn't maybe tuck a little up under there to give it some weight.

@rarrrrrr-i'd add alot more into that tune as a whole if i were you, it felt a little empty and not something i could not my head too. nothing really there to keep the listener interested. good sound design though, just work on making dat riddum.

@sinestepper-loving that modulation and bass. that hollow snare is the fucking tits. can't hear the sub but you usually have alot of it. excellent track, wish you would come to the dark side and make some brostep, i know itd be glorious.

@benjones-that horn sounded out of tune and frequencies are clashing. the wobble basses sound kinda cliche and like you just made a bunch of them at alternating rates and threw em together. they also drown out your drums so all i hear is bass. work on your mixing while you go, it really does make or break a track.

@gaol-nice tune, sounds like your drums need to be brought out of the mix a bit though. cant hear too much as dungeon and ambient music doesn't work well on my speakers at work. sounded like some frequencies were clashing and maybe your kick was a little too powerful. love that ambient voice in the track though, keep at it.

@mthrfnk-since you said that bass is a filler you know to def improve that. as far as the drums go, try layering some white noise or a clap and compress your snare a bit. bring your drums out of your track a bit. the actual programming itself is mint though.

@drake89-very....interesting song, not sure what you were going through as it changes directions alot. not much flow, everything is straightforward so maybe give it some swing to spice it up a bit.

@toolman-a decent tune, first thing i noticed was the snare, add a heavier snare under there to give it some weight. maybe working on that drop and find a way to make it hit alot harder, add some noise candy in there and some random hits and noises about in the intro. the drop was good as far as i could hear, maybe find a couple more sounds to replace a couple of those laser sounds, or tune the laser sound to fit with the other bass, because it sounds like they are out of tune.

@bRRRz-nice sound design, yeah, get an intro and outro as those are alot harder to get down than a drop. but yeah excellent work of the bassline, maybe work on that kick-snare combination if anything. keep up the good work.

Hey, so I screwed up earlier and posted without posting feedback first. I apologize. Deleted my post and added feedback at the bottom.

???

Darker ear candy? Not sure what that means. I had a bunch of synth lines but I scrapped it last minute, still learning massive.

the fact that both of you can't read, or even figure out that other people want feedback on their tunes also. learn to read the rules instead of just jumping in with your shitty tune. people put in alot of time to listen to other people's tunes and give feedback before posting their own and you just shit on everybody's effort and tunes. that's what you did.

if everybody posted their songs wanting feedback, but didn't give feedback in the first place, this thread wouldn't make any sense. it's common sense, never mind the first post. how does anybody expect to get any feedback if nobody gives feedback in the first place? :4: common sense, common courtesy.
