I'm actually really surprised at the reaction here. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of Coki (though admittedly I've been approaching him with a more open mind lately), and I really like this one. Might have helped hearing Mala drop it and knowing what it's like live, but still, I'm definitely happy to add it to my collection. I can't get enough of when it switches to the bouncier, more jump-up tempo. There's just so much energy in this tune.
Re: Coki duppy soursop on vinyl
^Ive got love for coki but hes been taking the piss lately, releasing sub standard tracks because he knows people will buy them no matter what. compare a masterpiece like burnin to this, hes definately not taking it seriously.
Re: Coki duppy soursop on vinyl
burning was probably made easily if you look at the source...
mala's favorite tune atm... so. no, it's not a jokeLichee wrote:JBoy wrote:i dont care what it sounds like on a system, if im buying the vinyl then it should sound decent on my home set up.at first I thought this tune was a joke, it might be good on a system but the ratio of listening to this on a system and not is waaaay to big for for £7

^We all have to love it for that reason alone then.

When I first heard this, I was like woah... this one's crazy! Then the vocal came in and I was like really!?
I might have bought this if it was an instrumental... and had a b-side. I do like the switch-up with the drums but there are so many better tunes I'd rather save my pennies for.
At least Coki stuff is getting released more regularly now but I'll stick with Marduk!

if you read my post you'll see i said that in reference to whether the tune was a "piss take" or not, not whether you have to enjoy it or not.JBoy wrote:^We all have to love it for that reason alone then.
funny how subjects, nouns and verbs work together

man that is not true in the slightest... goblin, red eye, officer, mood dub, haunted, spongebob, the end, road rage, triple six, all of a sudden, etc, etc, etc. they all sound bangin at home.bass_culture wrote:I don't think I own one Coki record which sounds good on my home speakers, but playing them out is a whole different story!
to those wondering why i bought it if i don't like it... cause i've still got an open mind... maybe it'll grow on me, and since it's a limited release i'd rather buy it and try it out. maybe i'll hear it out some day and fall in love... if i don't like it, i'll give it to someone who can really appreciate it. on the other hand though, i got the first AWD so if this ends up being a series, I'd sorta like to have all of them for the sake of completion.

no amount of mastering is going to make your home stereo capable of reproducing a 30 Hz sine wave

it's ok for us to like different things, i just hope some of you get to experience this one on a system...

This, good tune, annoying vocal parts.Cornbreadddd wrote:This tune would be a hell of a lot better for me if the vocals weren't there. I mean at least make sure they're in the same key. Dissonance can be used tastefully, but this isn't an example of such.

The vocals are horrible, don't fit with the tune at all...
Re: Coki duppy soursop on vinyl
i would kill to hear this on a rig. those that have, consider yourselves lucky! i'll probably never here this outside my bedroom.
some of you guys that don't like the vocal are missing out on an absolute banger.

Re: Coki duppy soursop on vinyl
those vocals are on a certain level, not sure which. bagging this chaos
Re: Coki duppy soursop on vinyl
I'm still undecided on whether to buy this, I really don't think the vocals go but the rest of the tune more than makes up for it.
Re: Coki duppy soursop on vinyl
heard this on a big rig when they were last here, and it was the only tune i could tear myself away from the d floor from to go to the toilet. really not feeling this one!
coki's more tearout style has been growing on me though. marduk is a current favourite for sure
