Tips on making tracks less loud?

Post by SkeeterDubstep » Sat Feb 18, 2012 4:27 am

So im using FL studio. And i use compressors, limiters and even bring down volumes. Nothing is distorting it just feels to loud.

I want to sound like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_LQYa1Q ... plpp_video
Its not to loud but still has some kick behind it

Any tips on how to do this?:)

Why are you using compressors and limiters if you want to make tracks 'less loud'?
Compressors are used to bring down the peaks and up the troughs.
Either stop using, or think carefully about using compression so much.

Or just turn things down? :6:

I think just turning down the stereo output/master volume should do the trick :W: if your problem is that your track is distorting, make sure your tracks aren't peaking, but do this through sound design and volume control and EQ, not limiters and compressors (they may distort it more).
