Graffiti: Stencilling

Anyone into Stencilling?

I had a tonne of cans lying around. I stopped doing graffiti a while back after getting caught and fined. I decided to try my hand at Stencilling



I was meant to put horns on this one and some text underneath but the blade snapped before I had chance.



Would love to hear from others that do this and some tips. I learnt about "islands" the hard way. But what I generally do is print the stencil from photoshop on A4, cut it out, spray it onto card and re cut it. Not sure if this is the way others do it but I find it works.

It feels like cheating, but it's a nice way to express feelings if you got the balls to spray in hot locations.

souldnt it be cool if you did a stencil of a guy throwing somethng and you thought it would be like agrenade but it was actually flowers>?

Giving Cameron devil horns does not amount to any sort of clever political comment, nor is it likely to actually have any political impact (especially when it's just being posted in the off-topic section of a dubstep forum.) It doesn't make you cool either.

I'm not trying to be a complete prick - getting involved in art and an awesome subculture is cool, but art is nothing without a concrete motive, which "coming up with edgy but inherently meaningless political statements" is not.Using the imagery you're currently losing is just going to make you look like a mindless suburan-middle-class-teen trying to be cool . Don't be discouraged, just please try and rethink exactly why you felt attracted to street art/stencilling.

wouldn't it be cool if you saw some gritty Vietnamese war photography of a napalm attack victim and you though it would be harrowing but it was actually just a satirical juxtaposition with happy cartoon characters that represent global corporations who probably have tenuous links to the US' military industrial complex.

It's the 2nd time I've ever done anything like this, and it was merely me playing about with some cans I had lying around. I wasn't trying to be Banksy, or spread any kind of political message on the streets.

There are no rules in art, or anything that allows you to express your creativity. If people don't like it, fuck them, why should you care about their opinions? Those that know the science of art will always have something negative to say. It's something I've said in music, which also applies to art.

I don't do anything like this but I like the style... might incorporate something like this in
an a/v project.
