Mainly I can't decide between ikaossilator or TNR-i (tenori on). got 21$ on my iTunes account and they both look awesome.
although I have filtatron, animoog, alchemy player, cleartune. have to say the moog apps are AMAZING, alchemy player is pretty good - but not a full featured synth like the moog apps. and cleartune is great if you want a chromatic tuner that is very accurate.

yeah, both rebirth and imaschine look really good as well. i'm on an iphone 4, so it will run smooth - but like you said, the screen seems like it will be a bit cramped with rebirth. imaschine looks amazing, and will definitely get it at some point.
[edit] saw that touchOSC uses wifi, i guess i could look around for a cheap usp wifi adapter - i have wanted to do this since it came out a few years ago. argon and xenon look pretty cool, but really how much use would it be when i have animoog?
so i guess you all are suggesting that i don't spend $20 on either of those apps, and spring for imashine and rebirth - then whatever else i have money left to get.

I see OP already has it, but just wanted to say how awesome AniMoog is.I missed out on the 99 cent introductory price, but even at $10 it's well worth it!

I ikaossilator which is cool and fingerbeat is fun to mess about with too. I've recently got FL Studio and have been using it on my lunch breaks. I only have iPhone 3GS and all of these run fine, but I think FL would benefit from the larger iPad screen. The capabilities of the sequencer are quite impressive but it would be nice to load your own samples
Re: best iOS/android music productions apps
Technobox 2 is quite good for IOS. It is quite fiddling with some of the knobs on a phone tho tbh. When you leg go of the screen it often jumps so getting things spot on like tempo can take some time because it moves as you let go! nice drum machine and nice synths. You can also load ur own samples. One big thing missing is tho you cannot tune drums! a sampler would be sweet too. The selling point for me with Technobox was the fact you can upload straight to Soundcloud!
Caustic for Android looks neat.

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

however you can load your own samples theres a image-line video on youtube explaining how to do it quite easily

Re: best iOS/android music productions apps
FL mobile has quite bad reviews. Nano studio has loads of really good reviews and looks much better tbh
Very limited on a phone tho so might get it for the Ipad2 instead!

I like all the apps that control real DAWs through wi fi, but they're mostly iPad only.
There's one that is a logic controller, one for Ableton, one for FL, one for Reason (I believe?), and some others too I think.

Re: best iOS/android music productions apps
OK I've been going off the deep end a bit with the iOS synths. I figured these where kinda limited imitations of synthesis when they first started to appear, and never paid them much attention.
Then I downloaded AniMoog and Sunrizer xs... Boy was I wrong, I ordered an Akai Synthstation 25 yesterday, when coupled with an app called midi bridge it looks like you can run pretty much any iOS synth you want with it. Anyone else using this kind of rig?

Nanostudio x100,000,000!!!
Seriously - Nanostudio is the fucking tits. FL Studio for iPhone was just a repackaged app called Xewton Studio that everybody came to hate for support issues, among other things.
Nanostudio has two basic instruments - one is an MPC style single-shot trigger sampler, and the other is a hybrid synth/sampler with two oscillators, a pretty big pile of wave forms, automation and the ability to record it - everything you'd need to rough out a sketch of a tune, take it home and dump it in your DAW and flesh it out. I can't recommend it highly enough. The user community is pretty devoted too.
SunrizerXS is surprisingly powerful and can handle a lot of different synth needs (bass, pads, arps, etc.) and has a Random button, which is always fun.
I haven't checked out NLog yet but know it has a lot of fans too.
Argon sounds awful to me - aliasing like fucking crazy. Haven't tried Xenon yet, but would hope it's better than Argon.
Alchemy Mobile is OK, but the tradeoff for its superior sound quality is lack of control over basic functions. Definitely get the free bonus sounds for it too.
I'm using Hokusai for a wave editor because it's free but would like to find something better...

Re: best iOS/android music productions apps
Got my Akai Synthstation 25 yesterday and it is really cool, midibridge works flawlessly, no noticeable latency, makes the two synths I have SO much more playable. If you only have an ipod touch or iphone you should really consider it. I think it needs to be a 4th gen device running iOS 5 or later to work right, but man is it fun to play with.
Keys felt really spongy to me before I got everything connected and running, but once I started playing a synth they actually seem pretty responsive, I don't really have any complaints about the synthstation25, it does everything I was hoping it would, (which is pretty much just give me some keys to play my toys with)

Been investigating everyone's suggestions, downloaded funkbox, awesome drum machine. Best part about it is you can import your own samples, and programming patterns is a breeze. I read that Gorillaz used this on an album, I can see why, powerful and versatile.
