vinyl is number one, then cdjs. i wouldnt mind controllers as much if they didnt have sync buttons. Vinyl will always be top for me, just personal preference, but i still can use/dont mind using CD decks when there is no vinyl option

I started on CDJ's and now have Technics as well, I used to think people were just trying to be cool when they said vinyl sounded and felt better but it really is so different to digital!

i love the feel of vinyl. The thing is in the end it's whatever the people listening want, if you can do the same mix on all formats, i'd rather watch you do it on vinyl because i know how much harder it is. But if you're dj'ing vinyl and it's bad, it doesn't matter how hard or technical it is, it's bad.

The thing is mp3 dj'ing is easy, there's no debate. Auto-sync the tunes, look at the waveforms to see when to drop them, if you fuck up you can loop one tune round till it drops in nicely. I think if you're gonna dj with mp3's, you should be pushing it a lot more

I agree that digital Dj's should be utilizing all the tricks that are available in that realm and most don't.

I think the big picture that people don't get is THE ART of DIGGING! If your buying mp3s or burning cd's you're definitely missing out on one of my all time favorite pass-times.
Going to the Record shop is becoming a lost art as digital takes over. Kids that are starting out now will probably never grab their Headphones and run out to their favorite record shop to find that "just in" piece of wax. I love that feeling!
Also,just digging through the bins and finding that one jem that's waiting for you to discover is great fun and I won't ever stop searching. The thrill of the hunt.

My home setup is 3 m5g's and 2 cdj800's. I love vinyl and have played it for years but there's stuff that doesn't get a vinyl release and I get so many digi tracks sent to me and can't afford getting those cut.

Was always a vinyl man - Technics 1200's....
But the cost of vinyl and frustration of limited presses led me to using Traktor w/ Time Coded vinyls.

There are still artists that I will always buy the vinyl of (Demi Medi crew / Chestplate / Hench) in order to support them. Plus, I'll definitely be copping the Akkord release.

But Digital is the way forward..... (as long as the DJ doesn't just stare at the screen. and doesn't understand how to use their ears to beat-match)

I would love to use vinyl, but it's so much hassle for what it's worth.

Vinyl is passion. Vinyl is belief.

But, I think it does feedback to the fact that when i started playing records about 9 years ago, I started on vinyl, everybody played vinyl, and there where no CDJ's or laptops in sight for me.

I think it is important to respect your roots. For me the roots of our sound are in dubplates. Certain music, classic unreleased music, lives and will remain on dubplate. On turntables. On records, physically. That is part of the reason i have never changed.

Not forgetting i am deeply inspired by Joe Nice, Pinch, Coki and Mala - And those being vinyl DJs, amongst others. Physicality is very important to me. I like to feel the records, own the records, carry around my record bag, place records on the turntables, put the needle on the records, you know.

That's just me though. Respect.
