I know I can be fairly sarcy at times. But put simply, we merged threads that were directly related. That were posts concerning any of the well trodden brostep/skrillex threads. We left plenty of threads concerning individual tunes or worthwhile discussions. But this is a *reaction* to what, you, the users do. If a thread starts to get bogged down with the same old tired replies about how 'it's not dubstep', 'skrillex sucks' or the other banal conversations then it gets merged. That's not us hating brostep, that's the users (a minority) of the forum. It seems that no-one can stop the flow of the continual whinging, so we made a thread in which those people can do just that. And what do you know. It's worked, not perfectly, but other threads can actually get on with their purpose.Nevalo wrote:i get annoyed at times, but its not constant.... The problem with starting talk like " the true sound " of dubstep is entirely context. When this forum had 1500 members in 2006, I think 85% of them could agree roughly on what the sound meant; its definitions then. Now we're at a totally different paradigm in the music, as the influences are the sound itself. Dubstep influencing dubstep, rather than garage / darker garage / dub / grime influencing dubstep. Trying to be gatekeepers of one particular end of the sound is just about the dumbest thing we could do as a web presence. Gatekeeping and definitions, should be left up to the community and media to contextualize. Our job in moderating is harder now than ever simply for the reason that we'll never make everyone happy with anything we do. We're also never going to move on from the facts that this place is called dubstepforum and not 140bassforum or something a bit more open ended. People will come here expecting dubstep, and whatever variable of that bumping around currently.Mysteriis wrote:I think this thread is healthy, gives a place for the members of the forum to stroke their puritanical ego as well as build their well needed 'true' Dubstep street-cred!''Ay yo, dis brostep crap, ain't got no SOUL....IT AINT GOT NO SOUL!!111' etc
Joking aside, a sub-forum wouldn't work. The reality is that this forum doesn't represent a lot of the music out there which many consider to be Dubstep anymore. You wouldn't get many people listening to what most here call 'brostep' joining this forum, and the ones that do will most likely get a rough ride from the 'Tru Dubstep street-cred crew'. Thus a sub-forum would turn into a hate-fest with only existing members posting, like this thread.
Best to keep the forum in it's own bubble
yeah this was seriously disappointing. on the other hand i think it means they've announced the whole "filthy" dubstep line up now so we'll probably get more names like pinch in the future announces... i can't imagine mosca being the only artist of his genre playing on saturday!joeki wrote:Dour Festival, Arguably Europe's most Alternative big festival:
Saturday Line-up :
- Doctor p
- Flux Pavilion
- Cookie Monstah
- Bar9

- Koan Sound
I mean, this is a festival where I saw: Kode9, Pariah, L-Vis 1990 b2b Bok Bok, Joy Orbison, Pearson Sound and many more last year. Now I'm going to have to sit through that shit on Saturday?
This is the real issue with bro-step: I don't question its right of existence, for all I care it IS dubstep I don't mind. I don't have anything against people listening to it either. But now, this is what happens: we get pushed to the sound whilst there is still plenty of other innovating, quality and evolutionary dubstep/offshoots out there. But now I don't get an option any more.
On a sidenote: Mosca, Pinch and Ikonika are playing sometime there too but still, that's a fucked up night of no diversity what-so-ever.

I don't feel angry at Korn anymore, they've been dead to me a long time. That being said, Korn (self titled) still remains one of my favourite albums, and I blast it, Life is Peachy and Follow the Leader still quite regularly.
I know all the lyrics of all these albums
Korn self titled was definitly better than Untouchables and Issues but I can't call them weak tho. The one after that was my last album that I've bought and then they started to get quite horrible. Looking In the Mirror if I can recall correctly.Dead Rats wrote:I can't see how anyone can claim to be a Korn fan and like anything past Untouchables, tbh (and even then, Untouchables and Issues especially were both quite weak)
