So, I was lent a Xone 2D from my buddy to use as a soundcard, and I can use it as such, but only the RCA connections, can't seem to figure out why optical isnt working? as well as hearing audio playing in a web browser (thru optical), and if im not using the headphone jack, I cant control the volume of the audio, I have to go to my amp and control it from there, which is really really annoying, and not as accesssible as just using the volume on my laptop.
using a macbook aluminum uni, core 2 duo, 8 gigs ram, snow leopard
and ALSO,
I HAVE 8 GIGs of RAM, why my laptop not super duper quick? its just as fast as it was when I had 2 gigs.
any suggestions?

Re: Laptop
If you are running windows you need the 64bit version to recognize more than 3 (or 4?) gigs of RAM. Or it could be the system isn't recognizing the RAM for whatever reason...also, and I might be wrong here, but RAM doesn't really make your computer faster does it? That's more CPU speed?

Large amounts of RAM: Great if you are using mostly audio or running large sample based sound fonts/libraries etcfragments wrote:Re: Laptop

Powerful CPU: great for softsynths and plug-ins etc
and yes if you aren't running 64bit OS then you arent getting the best from the RAM
