Bristol ninjas [St Paul's Carnival]

Post by Kochari » Tue Mar 06, 2012 4:26 pm

So St Paul's carnival is seriously underfunded this year, locations are being moved and they're not letting people set up their own soundsystems without a license. There's possibilities it's gonna end at 6 and restart at 9, but only in clubs.

Fuck. That. Shit.

Sign this and I'll love you: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save ... -carnival/

Don't let them ruin the best day in the bristol calendar!!
My name is Dom and I like making ambientish music and drinking tea. Nice to meet you.

I'm not even from Bristol and this is still upsetting! What sort of carnival doesn't have soundsystems?!?!?!?

im sure theyl have the reg sound systems but prob trying to cut down on the unregulated ones. similar issues with stokes croft street fest i believe. i rekon is cause of all that rioting last year.

Went to the first meeting, it's a shambles I can't be bothered to get into right now but it needs much help. I haven't much faith for this year, gutted. It may well be my favourite...thing...in England.

Jesus, on the matter in hand, nothing about st pauls carnival should be changed. One of the greatest events in the country! Head and shoulders above notting hill. Would be deeply upset if st pauls carnival was changed out of recognition...

Serious memories attached to st pauls as is! Petition signed with concern!

Petition ain't gonna do shit, the money has to be raised. Many, many benefit nights etc. are being arranged.

I'll post up the text number for donations tomorrow, only £3000 was donated last year for a free event that costs nearly £200k to fund?

How does the rest of it work money wise do you know? Are the food stalls etc. all completely seperate to the carnival as a whole?

In other news i just found a battenburg.

You can make a £5 donation to St Pauls Carnival by texting 'CARN45 £5' to 70070

Do so as you see appropriate, please spread.

2010/2011 accounts can be seen here;

http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/Ac ... 31_e_c.pdf

People aren't happy with the amount spent on Event Management amongst other things, overhaul in the works.
