abstract bassmusic at 140bpm ? (no dubstep)

Post by ni_en_bhed » Wed Mar 07, 2012 8:22 pm

hey forum crew !
recently I've been searching for something which is not really dubstep, something which is more abtract, moody, 'strange', maybe percussive .. definately I DONT want no dungeon no wobs no bass-on-1-snare-on-3
but I love the pace of dubstep , so I want it to be 140 bpm. also I love the sub.
any suggestions ? ? there has to be something out there ! ;-)

so far I found anstam, shackleton, shackletons collab with pinch

How about some LHF? Fits the description I think. I'd still call it dubstep though.

I make dubstep inspired music that probably isn't dubstep cuz it's mostly around 100 - 130, but still has lots of sub and is pretty moody :D Check out my new EP here: http://fmsea.bandcamp.com/

Also, King Midas Sound might be up your ally.

Have you tried ambient? You could change the pitch until it's 140 if you wanted to, in theory. Not sure if it would sound shit in practice though!

Soundcloud

have a listen to that.

also, these guys have a radio show where they play music that i believe is exactly what you're looking for, lots of bass, reminds of techno, garage and dubstep yet at times beatless and very very subtle.. emphasis on the mood and ambience. unfortunately i have no idea of the tunes they play since they don't publish playlists. :(
