Re: wav to mp3
Has anyone noticed Audacity sorta generating background noise? I get that all the time i export, no matter what the format is, keeps me from using it more
And it's not the mic, a) i tried muting the input b) i don't even have a mic
I just use iTunes

Audacity requires you to install LAME. The problem with audacity is it's slow, that's about it really. I'm not sure if it supports batch jobs either, never seen the option.
LAME is the standard. There are differences in encoders. Fraunhoffer is supposed to be the best, it's used by professional companies mostly, but the license costs hundreds. Latest version of LAME has been tested to be on par with it now.
I wouldn't use itunes for it, though there is some mod you can install to use LAME inside itunes.
I highly recommend razorlame: www.dors.de/razorlame/

All2Lame is the one

why would you use audacity when you only need to transcode it. just download lame and link the folder in All2Lame. works with wavs, flacs, whatever. simple, fast, powerful... great batch processing functionality too

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.
