circadian rhythm in relation to humans i believe is what you're speaking of

I find that's a huge part of it too. Always feel terrible waking up too late in the day.

Mind all this, I slept for a 15 hours last night, after crashing from a 3 day bender, and feel like absolute shit.

i always used to sleep to much until i read something (on here actually) about 8 hours being too much sleep for most people, so i forced myself to sleep less and feel loads better for it

i generally go to bed 1am or later and get up just before 7 and what's crazy is that feel so much better when i get home after a full days work than i do at the weekends when i always end up sleeping too much

I would gather that it's similar to giving up caffeine. Hurts at first, but worth it in the long run.

Might try this too. My bio clock must be fucked, no matter what time I go to bed I can easily sleep 8 - 10 hours.
Then again, I have to get up at 7 every monday and I don't find it that hard.

May be of some use. Basically sleep in segments of 1.5 hrs - 3hr, 4hr30, 6hr, 7hr30 etc

when i was unemployed/doing bar work i'd go to bed at 6am and wake up at like 1 or 2pm and feel like shit

now i go to bed whenever i want but i always wake up around 9-10 after a few weeks of 9-5 and now my current job i start at 3pm but still wake up at 9-10 cos i found i can just do stuff during the morning/day if i want then go to work, easy peasy

its sick, get up, do some internetting, have some breakfast, have a mix, maybe go paint somewhere, go to work, get home, eat, stick a film on, chill/chat to people. done.

cant wait till i have my own place too, only problem is monotonous routine is different to the lack of stimulation offered by unemployment and sporadic work schedules, so now my mind is craving change and new experiences, im finding myself ACTUALLY bored rather than simply unstimulated

i spose thats not a problem tho, its pushing me back to things i used to enjoy like reading and searching for new interesting films and i spose pushing me to be more creative etc.

simply, if i had more money to do a bit more i'd settle for less sleep, and in turn more hours, just need to be patient for the moment and it'll pay off in the summer time

Kids dont keep you awake with excessive noise if you rub alcohol into their gums or tape their mouths over.

I sleep bare, like I will got to sleep at lik 5-6am and then wake up at like 2-3pm, maybe even later sometimes if I haven't got anything on. I just can't force myself out of bed if i havent got to be somewhere for a certain time, cos I just end up nodding back off. My pattern is fucked though, cos I sleep all day, and then have uni the next day, so have to have like 5 hours and then get up and then come back and probably nap haha

I sleep max 7 hours a day.
It`s more than sufficient.
I like my sleep but prefer being awake.
As the op said, more time to get things done.

I get 4-6 most nights, but every month or so I'll have one night (usually a Friday) when I'll get home from work at like 8pm, immediately go to bed, and sleep through til 8/9am.

I've found the same thing. Work at 11am on some days and 3pm on others; it's lovely to wake up and just chill for a couple hours before work. Then I've got a set until 4am every week, which throw a spanner into ever trying to get a sensible sleep schedule going.

Been working nights lately and I find I seem to sleep longer and it seems to be more solid (this probably being due to the fact that im exhausted before I go to sleep) - I always wake up before my alarm which gives me a couple of hours before work, which is much better than rushing around the house with 5 minutes to spare.

Although I do have some weird as fuck dreams.
