@ ACRO - Hey man! I really like this! I'd suggest cutting out some of those realllly high end freqs to make it more enjoyable.

@ CAPPA - I like it, but I feel like it's really flat. Try and spread your main line. Look for anything that can add more "width" to it. It's a more laid back dnb, so I don't suspect it to be so heavy, but more sub bass will help fill the space.

@ BudSpencertron - Duuuuuude. Fuck I like what you have started! Like you said, more attention needs to be paid to the final mix. The EQ feels a bit crowded and some of those cool sounds arn't comming through like they should. Maybe do more with the calve? Like have it ride?

This time I made one more on the chill side. I need to know what you guys think of it. Any ideas to better the track with be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!

Hey whats up guys (and girls? <3)

I have been making hip hop beats for about 10 years, but have always loved all kinds of music.
Around last year I started playing around with house and electro, and now dubstep.

This forum seems good. I hope to learn alot, discover some new artists, and maybe learn something to others as well.

Here is some of my first real dubstep projects. Pretty unfinished atm.

Soundcloud

Soundcloud

ACRO:
Huge sounding and epic like 80s power rock. The melody and wobbles is real cool, but the lead bass got too much mid-high frequencies. My ears are bleeding now..

DJ CAPPA:
Avogenics
Cool build up, a little bit quirky but its ok. I miss some more punch when the drop hits... Cool programming on the drums, maybe the melody is a bit random though? You got some insane sounds in here, nice work.

Excl
Same here, I like the build up and sounds. Lacks some punch, and I find the melody to be a bit too random for my taste.

THE OTHER DRUG:
Crossed Fingers
Dark and eerie. Cool reverb use and sub. Intro is a bit slow.. Melody seems a bit random, but I really like how the track sounds.

Runny Nose
DOPE intro! Heavy drop! Real cool sounds.

thanks for feedback but i am not quite sure what calve means in this context haha :dunce:

for your tune its kinda hard too give feedback i like the wideness of the hi hats and the hollow synth and the groove but i dont like the arrangment and melodies so much to this point. ilike the melody at 2 33 for its own though

@dj cappa i am really not the best at mixing but from my point of view you could add some more sub and low mids and make the snare little bit more snappier arrangment is nice so maybe just work on the place every element has in the mix not eq per se more like reverb and tiny compressons here and there

@trillion really feel the not to full brostep groove dont add much more elements from this point on just sharpen the sounds you have and add maybe a personal note to your tune to make it more of your own,
second tune has more of a personal note the rap is pretty damn nice chopped up but i found the bas in your first tune sharper and cleaner but the arp atthe end should run longer and more consistant its nice!

changed some stuff last couple of hours took away some of the crazy sharpness maybe its too quite now but thats always better than too loud.

@BudSpencerton
I know Im adding too much sound, so I agree and your suggestion will be noted, thanks!
Your tracks sound real good on my DT990 headphones. Excellent mixing, cool depth, nice delays, real smooth and sexy. What DAW are you on? (curious)

@Thrillion - Sounds cool, maybe a little "plain" but cool. Can't hear the kick too well.

@BudSpencerton - Mix sounds nice, some cool sounds going on in there, digging the bass sound a lot. Definitely has a different sound, in a good way.

@TheOtherDrug - Maybe adding a melody or something musical, unless thats what you were going for.

My newest WIP is in my sig, trying something different. I'm happy with it so far, any tips or criticism would be appreciated.

@Rylee - I like the melody in the intro, sounds great, set grove when the drums kick in, vocals fit well, i like the side chain on the choir. was kinda waiting for the bass to kick in......

@Budspen - wow that bass is creeping me out lol, did you sample that your self, the box sounding bass? i like the cut up box, fucking crazy style you got bro!!

@The other drug - intro was way to long IMO, but its a nice drop, really like your melody, sounds weird and weird is always good! i like your ideas man , only thing i would say at this stage is there is a lot of high freqs that need a bit of attention

@trillion - love the intro, very musical. feels epic, liking the build up, lot of attention to detail going on, phat drop, its defo not my style but production is mint. all i would suggest is trying to make your procession a bit more interesting.

Here is my WIP

@Darkdubz
Really liking the reverberated sound on Swindler. Inspiring stuff, I wanna hear more of it!
Forgotten Souls had a massive bassline, loving the sound on this one, and actually the "mistake" at 3:30 should become an effect instead, caught me off guard, I like those kind of weird details.
Biopsy made me follow you on Soundcloud. Heavy!!

Btw, you said I should make my procession a bit more interesting. What do you mean by procession?

thanks everybody for the positiv feedback i use ableton and dt 770 maybe thats why it sounds so good on 990 haha. if someone is interested how the bass is made its a hardstyle kick layered with a short sample of a oldschool beatboxbreak the box sound is one of these digital emulated room sounds. the beatbox "growl" is layered in clean sound and wide sound thats pretty much it

@monabury, not to big on the beatbox kit, bass is nice n heavy though and likeing the modulation on the samples. maybe a lottle to repetitive, but they are nicely modulated. interesting outro too. got a subtle melody going on there.]

@thrillion - phrase it, nice intro im quite big on long intros they are a great way to start a mix and sound rather epic when mixed into another song. the drop itself is prety bouncy reminds me of ruskos earlier stuff, could do with a few percusions or effects and breaks or moments of silence just to add some interest however.

@rylee/silvernode nice use of automation in this track, and interesting breaks too. Sound like you have the vocals double tracked with bitcrusher or something? Afraid that doesnt work for me but that might not be the case. Liking the electronic synths and choir harmonies they work quite nicely, still lacking a real drop or structure. But interesting and nice to hear something different.

Here is my latest WIP. Lemme know watcha think

1stfeist: i like that track but don't really care for the wobble, too noisy imo. i guess i just prefer deeper sounds. i'd like to hear more layers, funky little percussion sounds etc.

darkdubz: great stuff, reverb everywhere and a great sample. i guess all i could say is your sub bass could be more audible, but it's soundcloud and it sounds pretty damn good already.

budspencertron: this is a sick track, really great idea, love the off timing and how HARD the bass hits god damn. shit bumps.

track is in my sig, let me know what you think. about done with it, considering getting it mastered. what do you guys think i should add? still torn on a vocal i feel it needs something though just not sure what :/

@thrillion I really like your stuff. Its cool to be able to hear the hiphop background in there. In the second song try and bring the kick out a little more. It feels buried.

@RyLee I like it a lot. Not really my style but i still like it. The choir sound in the background filled the track in very nice.

@stranger_sounds I am in love. The sub sounds good on my headphones, maybe a little muddy with the kick though.

@terryfunk4life This is funky man. Seems a little off beat at some points.

This is something I have been working on for a couple of hours. I started using Sytrus in FL Studio and oh man is FM Synthesis confusing. Some great potential though. Just mixed the volume on the sounds but not EQ'd or anything so might be muddy.

Unfinished, un-mastered, rough-draft.

Let me know what elements you like / dislike, & what I should alter.

TokerCoughin:

Wow that was amazing.
I am not 100% about the synth u used in the drops for melody though. Maybe could need some tweaking?
All the rest sounds awesome!

Clark F:

I really liked the track. Don't really have anything to criticize. I thought it was cool! =)

darkdubz: Wow, big tune! Super tight production. Great bass, percussions and effects. No complaints and will be very interesting to see where this goes.

1stfiest: Nice style. I really like the synth that hits between the wobbles. Very dark and robotic and really cool when it goes parallell with the bass in the second drop. I would love to hear the full rap acapella together with the beat since it sounds really interesting when you do it for a second around 1:13.

difference: Deeeep. Good stuff and very nice percussion, especially that wood block hit. Tight and solid bass. Would like some more distinctive melody somewhere but I like the progression of the haunting synths and stuff anyway. Very meditative.

Gaol: Strange melody but I kind of like it. Heavy and very crispy wobbles but definitely needs some heavier drums. Love the effect thingy at 1:12 and side wobbles at 1:16. I think the whole tune needs some tighter arrangement though. Now it feels a bit random and not really going anywhere but great start for sure!

4rantare: I really like this even though you need to work some on the mix. I love the part between 1:36 and 2:03 and how you use the melody fragments in the rest of the song. Cool stuff! If this is your first tune I can't wait to hear what more you can do. The only part I don't like is actually the very first drop until 0:43 when I realised this is actually pretty great. :D

Here's my WIP. Any feedback appreciated.

@The Other Drug -Great tune! I really like the intro but i think after your drop you should keep the same slow feel you have in the intro instead of going for something a little faster!

@Darkdubz - Your tune is dark pretty good job on the vibe your sound is pretty tight! keep it up

@Difference - I really like your track man this is great minimal dubstep i think you have a winner in this one!

here's our track guys! Soundcloud

Thanks!

Thankyou Difference and Grok.

@ Difference Nice drums on this tune! nice and chilled and liking the subtle sub bass. Nice use of panning on the hi hats and the delays havn't been over used i think it's just right. Nice use of nise before the 2nd drop and i like the minimal aspect and counter melodies on the guitar, works really nicely keep up the good work!!!

@ Grok nice high energy intro! Would make a nice drum n bass remix i think :D interesting build up to the drop and pretty dramatic use of synth's, Think the low end synths could be a little more grittier but overall its a really nice sound and would go nicely in a mix i think. 2nd thought maybe a bit to much reverb on the kick drum towards then end, maybe automate the reverb so it goes from high to low into a second drop or something? What are you using to produce?

Changed my tune a bit sounding a bit better and everythings a lil bit louder ;D some new interesting wobbles towards the end.
Can't really put the whole acapella to the beat as its originaly around 90BPM (Hip-Hop) Song "Back Like That" by GhostfaceKilla FT Ne-Yo

Check out the remastered version and let me know what you think please :D 320's on demand!
