@RyLee, Your intro is too long mate.
@BaseBass, Perfect to me. Maybe some more sub..
@Sunshaft, work on your wobble formation maybe.

@ MassAphekt I'll start by saying that I think it's very wise that you are waiting till you get the basic and most prominent elements of your tune sitting together nicely before you begin to add other elements. I'm very new to producing, but I've definitely picked up that when people just wait till they're done with a tune to fix everything up, it all comes out shitty. So it's definitely important to get things as perfect as possible as you go, that way once you're at the final mixdown stage, it makes life a lot easier, and will invariably come out sounding much better. I've listened to this several times over, and I sense a great deal of energy in this tune. I really think the fluttering synth arpeggio in the background adds a lot of urgency and drama to the tune, which is nothing but a good thing. I notice that you change the drum pattern a couple times during the changing segments of the tune, but consider the idea of possibly making a little bit of drum pattern variation within those different segments. Also, I realize that you obviously haven't mastered it completely, but when you do, make sure to make the snare come through a little bit more, it's just a wee bit quiet. The sample sound great, and I think you have a great idea going here. Keep it up and let us know when you finish the whole thing!

Supa Raiden64 Oh boy, where to start. I guess to start with, your drum sounds really need some work, I would change them entirely. Also the mastering of those sounds is in equal need of help. The snare (and all the other percussion for that matter) is completely bullied out of the mix due to the excessive mid-range synth. The wobble synth, aside from being totally obnoxious, is incredibly loud, way too loud for anything else to come through the mix. Furthermore, the wobble itself is out of key and creates a harsh contrast with the background pad synth, although most people might night even be able to tell because the wobble synth is so loud you can't even hear whats in the background. But none of this is anywhere close to my biggest problem with this tune which is.....the lack of musicality. Remember, this is music, not a contest to see who can make the 'filth1ezt wobblzzz brooo". I feel that the lack of musicality in this just makes it so agonizing and unpleasant to listen to. Dubstep is primarily about bass, and this tune is lacking that, mostly because of the overzealous mid-range wobble. I hate to be so harsh and critical, but you asked for it! Keep practicing man, if filthy unmusical stuff is what you want to make, than by all means do it, I'm just offering a suggestion. Practice makes perfect!

@MassAphekt I really liked your track. It sounds great and its pretty catchy, can't think of much to give advice on it really. Maybe add some parallel compression to your master drums buss if you haven't already. Everything already sounds nice in your track for the most part though. =]

@Rylee The feel of the track you uploaded is amazing. Very glitchy and robotic, yet it has a great melody to it. I can suggest maybe doing a little more work to get the bassline a bit more compressed if you know what i mean. It sounds like the bassline is mixed a tad bit low, but the bass sounds you used sound very nice.

@Cornbreadddd I love listening to some chill shit. I love how minimal your track is, and the sub fits very nicely underneath everything. Sounds very relaxing and mellow. Also your hats bounce around and it sounds great! Only thing I would say is to maybe make a few more drum fills here and there to make things a little less predictable. This tune has some serious vibes and I couldn't stop listening to it! Definitely sounds like you put a lot of work into it and it sounds like it payed off.

Anyways, heres a different version of a tune that I uploaded a few weeks back, I added some things and it became a remix since I heard a song that fit so well with the bassline, yet I can't decide if I should keep the song this way, or work at making my own vocal parts to make it a completely original song. What do you guys think?

Any advice would be appreciated. =]

@ Altron Hey man, I really appreciate the positive feedback, I'm glad you liked it, I'm new to this so it's not perfect. But now lets' talk about your tune!

I'm writing this as I go along with listening to it. Wow, I'm really feeling this intro, so moody, and so emotional, great great harmony and ambiance here. The sample before the drop also fits in perfectly and I the girls vocals sound very very soothing, which creates an interesting contrast for what directly follows it, an intense drop. This is interesting, I'm typically not into the super filthy crazy stuff by any means, but your tune has a perfect balance of both the deeper elements of dubstep, and a little bit of craziness to it! I think that the balance you have created works so well, and is frankly perfect. Too many people get carried away and just make a track based on trying to make it as filthy as possible. I love how the contrast of the tune continues, after the slightly crazy part, you bring the beautiful soothing female vocal back in, and I fucking love it. I think this vocal sample really adds a whole new dimension to the tune and displays so many aspects like I said earlier, a harsh side with the synths, and then a beautiful side with the vocals. Not to mention there are loads of other great elements to this tune that really add some character to it. Mainly, the vocal sample in the background that is repeating throughout the tune. I really enjoyed this tune man, great stuff. Like I said, generally I'm not at all into filthy stuff it's just too over the top and people just make tunes based on pure filth and forget that they're actually making MUSIC! You made sure to keep things musical and interesting. Great job man, I really enjoyed this.

@MassAphekt - Thanks for the suggestions for my tunes you have alot of good ideas and I might just put some of them to work. Unfortunately I run in reason so VST options are not available. Ive tried Rewire into ableton and I get lost real easy haha. Your song has a good start, I especially liked towards the end it really sounded like you put alot into the variation which flowed well. I think your strong point is composition in this track and maybe if you refined your actual synths and compressed and EQ'd them and worked on adding some reverb and a few effects it could definitely slide into the category of funky electro.

@altron i absolutely loved this remix, right at the drop it almost tricked me into thinking it was the NOISIA remix, but you definitely made a sick remix here. :D not much else i can say about technical stuff, since I have no headphones or monitors right now... :(

@Massaphekt great work on those sounds, heavy yet soothing :3 as you said it does get a little bit repetitive, adding a couple more bassy main sounds could hurt it or make it, so maybe try experimenting and see which option sounds better, cant wait to hear this when its done though!

here are 2 little WIP ideas ive been working on for like.. a day.. :P i already know some things that are going to change around, but any feedback is always nice to help build it up!

@crakasteven Big fan of this mate, intro works well mid bass sounds crisp and nice sub works perfect everything sounds good to me to be honest no complaints!

@cornbreadddd This is smooth intro is lovely and minimal with enough vibe, love the minimal vibe overall at around 1.45 it does need something just to give it a bit more space maybe some piano keys or a sax :W: (P.S I think I sent you a message on soundcloud related to sax's)

@Atron Not a fan of this kind of Dubstep but I can most deffo appreciate the time you have put in all the drums work well everything sounds perfect. something my wobble head friends would love.

Not too sure on this project (Was extremely stoned throughout all of it)
Any feedback appreciated

MassAphekt - nice once the bass drops.
Kick can come up more and the percussion is also very soft.
Nice track though, it got my foot tapping.
I`m not a fan of electro house but this was ok, I listened the whole way through.

InTheCrowd - pretty interesting track, fairly solid mixdown.
The kick and Sub can come down a bit.
Good sound

Altron - pretty good track, not bro and not quite deep.
Very good sounds, they all seem to work well together.
Kick and percussion need to hit harder.
Try to eq some frequencies though because 2:19 or so it becomes very muddy from the atmosphere you introduce, it drowns out the vocal.
All in all though it`s a good attempt that's for sure.

Here`s a track I`m working on for the GhostHack comp.
I`m still throwing ideas around but it`s fairly close.

First off I would consider myself a noob. I have only been producing for a few months so I lack the experience to provide constructive critcism but I will point out a lot of submitted tracks that I liked.

@MassAphekt - Great work dude. Obviously I have no advice to give but those tracks are sick! I especially loved the drums.
@Cornbreadddd - I love this style. Super chill and relaxing. Would love to hear some more of your work.
@crakasteven - That that track is sounding tight bro i like this!
@swaggr - Love your style bro. I couldn't really decide on my favorite track they were all pretty unique.
@Inthecrowd - Super chill dude. Would definitely spark one up to that track.

This is my first track I have ever uploaded. Would love some feedback.

@squirrel Wow man thats only a few months!? I have only been producing for 2 months now but you are really good already. Only critiques i would offer would be some FX on your snare like a subtle reverb or something would be cool. Maybe put a highpitched synth in with a cool melody after the drop and drop the volume of your arp. Really good work man. keep it up.

@InTheCrowd Love those vocal samples. The kick is clipping a little and the snare is pretty harsh. other than that it is a really nice track.

@Swaggr I listened to the first track. I like that a lot. The 8 bit sounds thrown in are a cool addition.

So I wanted to learn the melody to Levels and I didnt plan on really doing anything with it. But this happened. Its pretty rough EQ wise and the levels need to be changed on some sounds. Let me know what you guys think. And damn I always post on the bottom of the page. The kick is only temporary until I can find some better samples.

@Gaol So random man. vocals are quite interesting, quite alot of annoying frequencies in there however XD not sure what else to say, like you said yourself it could use some work with EQ (however i hate EQ'ing organs personally) Maybe better to use different instrumentation?

@Squirrel pretty cool man, some kinda tapping or clicking noises in the background, sounds like a train from far away is kinda annoying. Nice use of synths and EQ and Effects. What do you use to produce, and have you produced anything else in the past i.e. not dubstep? Not a bad sound mate would be nice if mastered.

@Electric Head Quite an interesting track, like some underwater alien theme going on, maybe a few too may effects in the high range but the bass has a nice buildup and theres quite a bit of energy when the drums come in at around 1.30. Nice flow/groove really makes the track. Nice breakdown around 3 mins in and nice sampling with reverse and such. I prefer the end half of the track more than the first half of the track i think, i think this really deserves to be more than one song cuz there are too many characteristics in this. but id dpeneds what your going for i guess. only problem i do have is some of the sounds seem badly placed like high end effects, and sounds a bit glitchy towards the end. Nice work though :)

I've been on a sample hunt all day and been categorising them also into 10gb worth of royalty-free drums, percs, synths, bass', vocals and such. as a result i started making this. not to big on the wobble bass myself but i just think it kinda suits the track. Let me know what you think please :)

@superraiden- unfortunantly i have to agree with cornbread on this one, its a really harsh tune, but not as harsh as it could be for a first time tune, the pads seem to be clashing against one another which turn what could be good ambience into fuzz (so to speak) i feel as if this track was rushed through , my suggestion, play with your cutoff filters on the pads to prevent any clashing, work on your mixdown, the midrange needs bass and the drums need more presence; and try making your wobbles flow together a little more; dont take anything said to criticially; your just starting out so just take the advice if you wish ,and use it.

@1stfiest- i really dig this one for some reason; that intro "yerp yerp" is a definite ear catcher and then those congas really dragged me in , its big, 2steppy and spacey which i like, from where the track leaves off i would throw in some pretty tough solid low pitched kicks, and snappy snare and some more percussion work.

@elektrikhead- this is a gorgeous one, deep atmospheric , vibey, spacey and dirty, that bassline is monster, 2:30 mark is big.

heres my wip ; 808's and synths included

Thanks for the feedback.
I`m not sure I agree with all of it.
I have a very focused idea of what I`m after.
Most if not all of what you hear is there for a reason.
Maybe one or 2 sounds start a bit abrupt, I have started looking at those.
Regarding the song having too many characteristics, I have gone as far now as adding a 3rd motive near the end.
So you can consider it 3 songs in one now
It is all very much for a reason though.
Listen through some of my other tunes, you`ll notice the reoccurring theme of trying to shift the track after the 2nd drop.
Glitchyness is what I`m going for by changing up the beats often.
I guess I`m somewhat adhd when it comes to track structure.
I like things to shift often while still maintaining a solid beat & structure.
Keeping the listener wondering what will happen next.
:4:

Rebel - thanks brother, I`m glad you enjoyed it.

SupaRaiden64 - decent intro.
Midrange is terrible, seriously annoying and noisy.
Major eq issues, midrange just drowns everything out.
it`s terrible, sorry

You`re intro and drum line worked much better before the midrange kicked in.
Also the Raiden sample is pointless and shitty.

Sorry to give negative feedback but that track was no good imo.

Loose the midrange kack and focus more on the quality in the tune being the intro and intro beat.
Try to make a sub driven track off of those elements.
You may want to make bro but you`re natural style might not lend itself to it.

Thanks man i'll take into account what you said about the drums and percussions i definitely wanna get a bigger sound especially from the snare. thanks for the feedback :h:

@Rebel Nice man quite an old school sound on this reminds me of the way that Skream used to use his synths. i think the sub could be a lil bit louder maybe using a multiband compressor or with EQ? Maybe throw a more mid range kick in by the 2nd drop and switch up the groove, maybe go more halftime and 2stepy if that's what you like? Really like the use of the melodic synth though, not sure i'm too big on the more rhythmic one though.

Edit: Link above no longer works. Here is a new and fuller version of my WIP.

That track is awesome. Really great mixed! Feels really really good in my speakers.. really just awesome ;D

Swaggr:
Cool intro. I like it. To make it unique could add some DJ scratching in the start that'd be amazing! That drop was cool though but it could've been worked on abit more rhythmically to fit the start. Got some amazing sounds and chord progressions going on there though ^_^ could really fit a movie like the Matrix or something like that!

Here is my first track again ^_^, I've gotten much further.. what'd you think I could improve (ending is not finished yet)?:

@4rantare - Nice melodies, good feel to it. Maybe get a bigger sounding snare or layer another one on it. Do some EQing, sounds a little nasaly.
