herbal has hosted a lot of dubstep stuff over the years. a shame if it's true. but perhaps the space will be reincarnated into something even better.

Very sad news, I dont live there but have seen loads of people say how much fun they've had there. Shame for the scenes involved for sure. :?

And actually DOA confirms or denies more info than any other forum out there, but I understand everyone likes to hate on the haters :)

"We regret to announce that due to unforeseen licensing problems Herbal is closed with immediate effect. Please be aware that this is totally out of our control, and we are probably the most shocked at the news. We hope to reopen later in the year, but for the time being Kingsland Road will no longer shake to the sound of Herbal." - herbal website

:(

Is this the Hackney council/Met/Old st crackdown taking its first victim?

Thats fucked if it gets confirmed...never really felt it for dubstep but Herbal was a consistent venue where you could put on dnb in London - I'll always remember it as the long-time, spiritual home of Technicality.

I think underground music in London will miss it.

I have had loads of amazing nights down herbal, meet loads of like minded people, made a lot of friends and I basically lived there while I was at uni!

Sometimes I would head down 2/3 times a week!

One of the few places I still visit for DnB!

A massive lost..............

Was @ Herbal recording for Radio 1 last year, far enough the sound system wasnt great but its a shame. There's a lot of clubs in the surrounding area but a shame to see one go. Lets hope they sort the licensing out asap !! ... always allowed to get away with smoking in there too !!!

Mmm. I reckon it'll re-open. I don't see why herbal should close and not the 333/mother bar.
