The album sounds pretty good to me - although I've only heard it a few times at time of writing. No idea why it hasn't had more press, tbh.

Thought the FACT magazine review was quite interesting:

"[It's] the most composed, well-produced record of his career to date – from a technical standpoint, these tracks are faultless. Everything is incredibly complimentary, with the individual elements of each track nicely warmed and positioned perfectly. Unfortunately, although Ghost People never jars, it also rarely surprises."

aye, the sputnikmusic one has a similar opinion:

"But this time around it's decidedly less forward thinking and simply just straight forward, despite the slippery nature of Martyn’s garage tendencies. It also doesn’t help when the bulk of the album feels like an extended prelude to the breathless closer that is ‘We Are You In The Future’, an 8 minute time capsule of the early house movement wrapped up in a sea of distortion which ends up becoming the most blissful thing Martyn might ever have accomplished."

I happen to disagree a bit, I find the other tracks pretty satisfying in themselves. But the closer is just so batshit insane that it sort of makes you forget about the rest of it.

IMO, this is a really cohesive piece of work and my favorite LP this year. WAYITF is also probably my favorite track of the year, it could run for 30 minutes and I would always listen till the end.

Martyn goes deep dutch on Radio 1's Essential Mix. Martijn Deykers, aka Martyn, is a producer/DJ based in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He started out playing Drum & Bass in the mid-nighties, before settling on a mix of dubstep and techno on his brilliant debut album 'Great Lengths'.
He released his second album, 'Ghost People', on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label in late 2011. He also runs the 3024 label, named after his post code in Holland, putting out music by the likes of Mosca and Julio Bashmore.
