Triphosphate - Polar Bears Doin' It (Filthy/Melodic)
Soundcloud
NEW VERSION! 3/20/12: Added Harmonic progression, Sub Bass, layered snares, clearer overall levels and generally less overcompressed.
Let me know what you think if you'd like! I'll gladly return the favor.
Setting it to free d/l at 420 Plays!

I love this, the lead synth just brings in such a nice melody. hats sound amazing too, if a little "straight" although thats probably just me

Much appreciated! I have a phobia of the shuffle/swing function on my DAW I should probably break. lol.

Then why not create an automation clip for it?Triphosphate wrote:Much appreciated! I have a phobia of the shuffle/swing function on my DAW I should probably break. lol.

Honestly, using swing rarely occurs to me, but I've never thought of automating it. Definitely something to try!MrAural wrote:Then why not create an automation clip for it?Triphosphate wrote:Much appreciated! I have a phobia of the shuffle/swing function on my DAW I should probably break. lol.

Killer! The synth wobbles are straight insane - very awesome! I think some vocal samples might sound great on such an atmospheric track - between the wobble parts. I'd like to hear more smack in the snare. The drop parts seem to lack the silence/heartstop. Everything else is there for me. Very nice production!

i like the little synth melody hook that plays throughout the whole tune. Bass Patches are very present. Lots of variation, I dig this. Nice builds and FX too, they work well. I'd like a three-something chord progression to back the melody and the vocal chops up though, I feel this is lacking some defined harmonic spectrum. Don't get me wrong, ambiguousity can be good, but this tune's melody is so defined and to my ears it sound like it's asking for a (1-7-1-7-6-3-6-7) kinda progression (suggestion) so if your key is C Minor what I mean is (cm cm cm Bb cm cm cm Bb Ab Ab Ab Eb Ab Ab Ab Bb) forgive me for being so "invasive" here but I can sort of hear that going on in there. Any other minor progression may be fine as well, but some chords might increase the feel of the melody.
Here's what I sound like

Fantastic advice! there are hints of some of those intervals you mentioned that peek their way through as a result of the filters in combination with some of the pad-like synth and the vocals chopped, they really appeared to me the first time I played this back for myself in the car. Also, a friend of mine played it and mentioned that it seems a little to light in the sub region. So, I think I'm going to take a look at it tonight and see if maybe I can sneak in some harmonic progression as you mentioned... I think it can really help to breathe some more life into this.shroomhead1 wrote:i like the little synth melody hook that plays throughout the whole tune. Bass Patches are very present. <3 Huge thanks.
P.S. Not invasive at all. I appreciate all the feedback I get and I dig your ideas.

Made changes as per your suggestion! (kinda... I went with a diff. prog.) Thanks a million for the idea. I hope you like it!shroomhead1 wrote:i like the little synth melody hook that plays throughout the whole tune. Bass Patches are very present. Lots of variation, I dig this.
