It's Venus, no wonder she is beautiful.

Venus is my favourite thing in the sky.

Good rule of thumb; if it's Evening or Morning and the star's going in the same direction to the Sun (i.e. falling at night, rising in the morning) then it's probably her. She's actually in the sky most of the day, but the light of the sun obscures her... occasionally on a Spring or Autumn morning you can catch her for a bit longer into the morning.

She seems to move in the wrong direction to the rest of the sky because her orbit is inside ours... all the other planets/stars rise at night because they're outside. It also means that Venus goes through phases a bit like the moon because she gets obscured by sunlight... and on June 5th (I think - look it up) we'll hopefully be able to see her cross the Sun for the last time in our lifetimes - unfortunately she'll almost have finished by the time she gets Europe gets a glimpse.
