Change note of vocal sample?

Post by robwan » Tue Mar 27, 2012 10:28 am

Whats is the best, easiest and most efficient way to do this.

Presuming i already know what musical note the vocal is in.

I know i have to change pitch, but i'm never sure of the exact ratios in cents.

Are there any free vsts which can quickly change a vocal in the note of C for example, to E. Or does someone have a table showing the correspondent pitch changes to their respective whole/semitones up/down.

Thanks guys

Just pitch using semitones, not cents. C to E is 4 semitones.

Load it into a sampler and (using logic, idk if its diff for you) map it to your keyboard so diff notes play diff pitches, then play what chu need ^^

All notes go C-C#-D-D#-E-F-F#-G-G#-A-A#-B and then back to C again.

Soo, just measure the steps it takes to get from the original note to a different note :)
Ie. D to B would be either 9 steps up or 3 down, steps being semitones.

FL pitch is in cents only, as I remember, but 100 cents = 1 semitone

if you have a little money to spend, you're best bet is to buy melodyne, it allows you to change vocal notes the same way as midi notes, and the best thing is that you don't get a very long slowed down sample if you change it to a low note, or a fast one on a high note ;)

FL 10 comes with a demo of some pretty similar software. It's called Newtone. I think it's like 50-100 to buy it. http://www.image-line.com/documents/newtone.html
