In some desperate attempt to deny I'm not nearly 30, I wrote 6/7 years above, when it should be closer to 10.

Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?
heh.. well yes. i absolutely follow you on that and pretty much wholly agree, except that while considering the synthesis and aesthetics coming from dnb's direction, one might also regard his beat structure/tempo's strong correlation to electro house..
so bearing in mind his dnb-esque patch work, i consider the majority of his stuff complex electro-(shit)-house
Then again, while the tunes are spanning across 140 halftime, 120's electro house, on down to 100-ish "moomba"-whatever-shit-core, i guess you could say, based on your attributes, that it's all dnb .. albeit a bastardized incarnation of the stuff.
not that i'm trying to say it should all be 170ish amen tracks or whatever.. just that its parent attributes seem to be entirely disregarded or unrecognized, as are dubstep's, when you listen to his compositions.
I don't think its a good or bad thing.. sometimes you need to take what you do know, and totally start anew, blowing off all the things you used to think were necessary parts of a style of music..
I just happen to think most thee producers have awful taste in what they choose to create
tl;dr : hmmm i wonder what this genre of music is that i fucking hate. I suppose it is more or less dnb. indeed

Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?
I know what you're saying, I never listened to Tweak/Electro/Tech House, I am aware of them, but not sure what the key lynch pins to those genres are, so it may well be that it harks closer to that than anything else!Today wrote:heh.. well yes. i absolutely follow you on that and pretty much wholly agree, except that while considering the synthesis and aesthetics coming from dnb's direction, one might also regard his beat structure/tempo's strong correlation to electro house..

Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?
The irony of Beatport from a label point is that the releases I put out on the label might smash through so many units, but Beatport pay out nothing. Literally nothing. So I don't give anything to Beatport for any of the labels I run.
Screw you Beatport.
Screw you Beatport.

It's a minimum payout of $500 dollars per month. Which can be hard for smaller indie labels, which is why they tend to only work with aggregators (downside is the aggregator inevitably take their cut), this way, the payout is pretty much garaunteed and you always get your money. If like Soul Motive however, you have a direct label account, well it's a long one.

Interesting post matepete bubonic wrote:Let me explain.Today wrote:pete bubonic wrote: And Skrillex is dnb, agree with Beatport on that.![]()
only comment of yours that ever made me make that face

So in summation, yeah I reckon Beatport is right with Skrillex sounding more like DnB than anything I knew/know as Dubstep. Hope that's a decent explanation.

Garethom - It rolls over though! Beatport don't just laugh all the way to the bank with $499! Though I'd be fucking laughing if owned Beatport. To the bank. In the Bahamas. Via Yacht.

Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?
I know, I gathered that, I was just shocked at the amount of money they expect you to make first. Don't really use it, but do ANY smaller labels use it, and if so, why?!pete bubonic wrote:Garethom - It rolls over though! Beatport don't just laugh all the way to the bank with $499! Most used electronic music website in the world I guess. Beatport have worked hard to get where they are, I got respect for them. As a seller, you still get a better deal through them than you do Amazon!garethom wrote:I know, I gathered that, I was just shocked at the amount of money they expect you to make first. Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?
All good if you're going to see a return, I guess. I wonder how many labels have never been paid because they've died a death before they ever reached $500.pete bubonic wrote:Most used electronic music website in the world I guess. Like I said though, not sure if any of the smaller labels use it though.
Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?

Re: ...Is Beatport trolling?
Basically, they'll pay on, say the 30th of each month IF you've acquired $500. If not, you get paid nothing until you've sold more than $500 worth of stuff.Immerse wrote:are you saying, in order for the label to get any of the money made that month, it needs to be at least $500, or you get nil? if so... damn thats harsh
So say it takes you 6 months to make that, you won't get paid till the 30th on the 6th month.
