Best packs you ask. I just have to recommend in that case Nexus2's expansion Vintage drum kits. Awesome buy. Really good kits in that expansion. Contains the basic needs for dance / pop / dubstep / drum'n'bass.

Wave Alchemy makes really nice drum machine single hits. I prefer them over the Goldbaby stuff, although those are great too.

Get Superior Drummer 2.0 . Best drum kit out there; the most professional you can get. I bought it myself and I love it. Read all about it. It has its own mixer with each drum mic'd so you can mix each drum, cymbal (and even change the TYPE of tom, snare, cymbal, high-hat etc) that you want based on size and manufacturer. Anyways, the mixer is the cool part. It comes with many presets but you can equalize each mic on the kick in/out, snare, etc etc. And buss things for further editing. I layered my snare to get a good tapered sounding snare with a little white noise to it and a strong pop. My kick drum is spot on perfect. EQ'd and what not. Get it, you won't regret it.

I mainly got mine from sample swaps and free downloads of the net.

I’m looking for some actual drum “kits”. Some good quality acoustic drum kits.

Most of the “kits” I see seem to be a folder with 100 kicks in it, a folder with 100 snares in it, a folder with 100 hat’s in it, ex…

I want audio “kits” made by the same drum kit, recorded in the same room. The drum samples packs I enjoy are the ones were you have kit folders. Each kit folder has the sound of every part of the drum set struck once or twice in the studio. That way you keep the same feel\reverb and “air” of the studio. Things sound more uniform when each one of your one shot hits came from the same drum set recorded in the same room. I thought that’s what a “drum kit” was, but lately I’ve seen people call a folder with random one shot’s a “kit”…


Does anyone know of a good sample pack set up like the way I described above?

Almighty Alias-----I would recommend ToonTrack Superior Drummer 2.0 , it's exactly what you are looking for. It's not free. Don't cheap out. You get what you pay for.

Superior drummer was produced by 3 men in NY- two drummers and a producer I believe. They recorded in a live (full) studio so you have access to all their kits. Also included is a Mixer. (Each drum , cymbal, HH, snare, tom and kick is mic'd) and you can add presets to each of these mics, you can bus them, or you can add your own EQ, filter, transients, etc etc... Check it out man. Anything you get for free is going to sound like shit, IMHO. And you can't be creative with someone else's sound.

edit: there is also a "Groove" tab where you can pick from many different fills, grooves, rhythms, etc...Also , of course , you can record your own rhythms. And change the kits as well-drum per drum-cymbal per cymbal-kick per kick, and so on..... ( I do not promote ToonTrack products. It's just that good.)

9th wonder sample pack is alright but ive been hearing a splodgey clap from that used in like 900000 dubstep songs over the past couple of years. its worse than vengeance snare (its not though because it actually sounds nice, its just massively overused)
