Hi guys.

I'm a bedroom producer from New Zealand, starting from when I first picked up FL Studio in 2010. Heck, it seems like a lot more than that, I'm pretty much a n00b, really. I just post my stuff to Newgrounds.com audio portal, but I feel that it's limiting me in some way because people there don't seem to appreciate the deep kind of dubstep I enjoy. Some of my favourite current artists include: James Blake, SBTRKT, Burial, Jamie XX, Shlohmo, Four Tet, Flying Lotus, Aphex Twin etc. Also Thom Yorke. Other artists I enjoy are

I also like hip-hop, soul, jazz, funk, disco, and french house. I like vocoded vocals (when used in taste), and cheesy synths that rise to a crescendo of great heights (see Todd Terje's latest EP), deep reverberations, minimalist fare, and soulful vocals (a.k.a people that sound like the old soul singers). I also enjoy bleeps and bloops and un-quantized drum beats (see James Blake's "Unluck").

If I were to create the music I liked, it would be me on a keyboard-slash-piano, creating amazing sounds on stage with/without a band (electronic probably). I want to make beats that people listen to in the rain on their way to work, or on their way to school, or sitting down in their room. But most of all, I want to make songs that resonate with me and how God has made me. I like to think that I'm a deep person, but there are probably plenty of people deeper than me. And does that make you a happier person? I don't know.

Anyway, things are getting depressing real quick (I hate that word), so I'll just talk more about myself. I'm 20 years old and studying to be a computer programmer to provide a stable job so I can focus on my music. Don't get me wrong, I love programming (it's my second passion), but I also want to make music for the world. I hope to fuse the two professions together by programming me my own synths, but one dreams

Hey guys

I'm just a student that wanted to find a place on the big ol' interwebz where he could discuss dubstep and other related things with like-minded people. I discovered Dubstep two October's ago through a CoD montage intro. I started researching and browsing the genre, and quickly fell in love. I went from a person that listened to angsty rock/alternative to a full-fledged EDM-aholic. Since then, my iPhone's just been chuck full of Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Drumstep, Electro House, all that good stuff!

I really look forward to spending time on this site. I'd love to get some song recommendations from you guys, and hell, maybe just get to know you guys as people. School isn't exactly looking up for me anyway, so who knows? Perhaps I'll try and make it big in the dubstep scene, and this seems like as good a place as any to get some feedback on tracks I make (mind you, I'm currently attempting to make my very first track, so it's guaranteed it won't be groundbreaking stuff )

I'm new here (obviously), and i'm just looking for a friendly forum to read and post things, including my own works (i only have two at the moment). I've been into production (not electronic) for about 4 years now, released albums here and there (metal), and i just started making electronic music this year. Hey, been here for a while, but never introduced myself.. Hoping to get some feedback on my tunes, and find some people to chat with about dubstep/brostep to find some more producers I may never have heard of.
I don't know many people who are truly into dubstep, so I hope I can get some good feedback here, everyone else I know can only tell me "yes, I like it" or "no, I don't like that"
Which is fine and all, but I'd like to know what is bad about it, or even good about it when they like it really. Only been in electronic music for a year and a half at the most..

Hey i'm brand new here, I have been teaching myself how to use fl studio, massive, and fm8 for the past month or so (so small task). I joined this site so I could ask questions on how certain things are done and also So that I could get some feedback on tunes that I create. I have a few questions right off the bat, first, I have a tune I want to upload on here but Idk how to do that lol. I have exported it into an mp3 file from fl studio onto my desktop but I cant find and attachment buttons on this site lol. And my second question is, when using massive, I often find that I want to use multiple sound settings between different channels. what i have been doing is opening a new massive channel each time I want to change the sound, so i end up with 5-6 different massive channels. Is there away around this? or any way to apply changes to the massive settings to only one channel? help with both of these would be amazing!

Answer to your first question: upload it to soundcloud and post it on here
Answer to your second question : frequency splitting if the wavetables are hitting different frequencies, routing to separate filters if they aren't

Hold on, so you're saying you want to make multiple synths using the same module rather than making new modules? Why? I'm a Reason user so I don't fully understand how FL and Massive work, but that just seems like it'd limit your mixing and processing options. Just have different instances of Massive running through different channels, there's no harm in it unless you're really, really OCD
