XXYYXX (compared to James Blake etc)

Post by Johnlenham » Wed Mar 28, 2012 2:25 pm

Wasnt sure where to put this so General it goes!

http://music.reliefinabstract.com/album/xxyyxx

XXYYXX is the name of Orlando, FL's 16 year old producer, Marcel Everett. He's been compared to James Blake, Clams Casino, and Star Slinger. Marcel works out of his own bedroom studio and creates beats as his main focus. His music has been featured on XLR8R, The Needle Drop, Earmilk, Indie Shuffle, BIRP and many more. Now he is creating harmonious music that provokes emotion and transmits vivid images of peace and still sadness.

Liking it alot and its pretty mental hes 16

I'm sorry but having your press release comparing yourself to james blake and clams casino is pretty fucking vague, like that one a while back that compared themselves to burial & about 5 other artists of varying genres. plus that's a shit name, already got xxxy ya get me.

Hey guys, i made some tunes that are dull as fuck for about 4 mins until i "drop" them with more cut up and pitch fucked vocals, can i be the next james blake please?

I'll just come out and say it, XXYYXX isn't that good. Corny as hell.

Feel like the producer is trying way too hard to sound like James Blake and/or Clams Casino.

best of luck to the guy! Checked his tune after comparing him to James Blake, its ok but id suggest its always a bad idea comparing people to respected artists on the top of their game like him, too much pressure and they'll never live up to it. And yea the name could do with a change, xxxy is instantly what i thought and thought you'd made a typo ;-)

I liked Good Enough.

I feel like I should be really bored of beyonce/ciara/female r&b singer samples, but I'm not. I'm reaching the end of my tether though.

Yeah I think its maybe just to give you an idea. Like If someone said "check out ifran davyd, hes like james blake" you get an idea of what to expect as its fairly "different" if that makes any sense rather than like "Check out this guy he does awesome house music" that could literally be anything atall!

I must have listened to it about 7 times since I posted it, its very "easy" listening.
